Chapter 04: Act III
A MIDSUMMER ROSE: ACT III—
§ instructions.
The third Act is underway! This is the designated log for all Main Scenes. Others are free to create their own toplevels for the Sub Quests, which are detailed below. Each Main Scene has their own unique toplevel and those cast into the roles are to thread their scene under each. All scene instructions are provided in the toplevels.
Fairy forms are no longer at play, but everyone will now have a dragon form they can transform into. It's mostly by their own will, but a few may have some accidents as they get used to it. These transformations can be either partial or full. IMPORTANT! Characters cannot transform into dragons while doing scenes. Only those playing Tam Lin and Bonny Rose in Scene 6 will be able to use their given dragon form to use.
Finally, just to be clear, characters who are in Main Scenes are not immediately dropped in to their location and will have to follow the glowing path of mushrooms to a designated door and then return. Threading all of that isn't necessary, but it's to help give a better idea that characters can take a break between scenes or wait a bit to help with other things like the Sub Quests.
Feel free to refer to the Game Notes for more detailed info as well as ask questions or clarifications.
§ sub quests.
Everyone is free to participate in the Sub Quests. There are no specific top levels, so you're free to incorporate them however you wish in your own top level.
¶ I. Dungeon Sweep. Another Act, another place to clear out to make it hospitable during their stay.
¶ I. Dragon Egg Hunt. Many dragons can be seen flying overhead, but they don't really bother the characters all that much. If anything they seem to be focused on dealing with some other problems, and those who venture up to the other towers will discover the reason why—as well as why they're able to transform into dragons.
¶ IV. Wildcard. Make up your own prompt!
As everyone is taken from the second Act into the third and final Act of this story, they will all share the same visions of how the story has proceeded thus far:
When they awaken, the Aspects will find themselves in the middle of a desolate looking fortress, everything battered and filled with debris. A few bones and broken pieces of armor can be found scattered about, dark clouds constantly looming overhead—and along with the occasional cawing of crows, the loud roars of dragons can be heard followed by large, dark shadows as they fly overhead.
This is the fortress where Tam Lin is held captive and Bonny Rose must rescue him from. Once again those who must fulfil their role will find a path illuminated for them by glowing mushrooms and lead to different doors through which they must pass through before appearing in their designated scene setting. The rest will be tasked to try and clean out the fortress while protecting their safe location as well as helping the dragons roosting in the many towers overhead.
The Aspects will also discover that while they no longer are in their fairy forms, they can turn into something else—dragons.
Bonny Rose and Puck met and proceeded to blame each other for the donkey curse, but eventually took a moment to realize they needed to work together in order to brew the cure, with Bonny Rose protecting Puck while he gathered ingredients and brewed the potion. (All while bickering and swearing as only fantasy-Scottish redheads can.)
After freeing the town, Bonny Rose was in a much better mood and got along considerably better with her new traveling companion Nick Bottom, developing an amiable friendship until the two were separated by distracting swarms of butterflies and will-o-wisps.
Titania found Nick in the forest and he followed her willingly to her castle, with the queen demonstrating her considerable might defending her new paramour against a serpentine creature. The two indulged in a steamy bath and soothing Titania's wounds.
Surprisingly, Oberon and Carabosse had a scintillating past as lovers and partners on the battlefield, until Carabosse fell too deep into dark magic and Oberon began to fall for Titania. The two of them had a tense but surprisingly civil conversation about the past, the curse and her kidnapping plans, and Titania's mothering skills, and Carabosse promised to alter the curse and divulged that it can be broken with True Love, romantic or platonic.
Oberon managed to coax a particularly sharp Titania to their room, and eventually managed to break the curse on her.
Titania apologized to Nick for her behavior while under the love potions' effects. He accepted her apology, and the two agreed to part ways and for Nick to be left alone from now on.
Meanwhile, Bonny Rose and Tam Lin met in the forest, and the two normally outgoing youths were so stricken with each other that they became shy. They bonded over their shared feelings of being trapped in certain roles, and Tam Lin managed to charm her by introducing her to a wolf pup and taking her on a ride through the forest.
After the lovebirds parted ways, Tam Lin went to Puck for romantic advice. This was a mistake, as apparently fairy romance is much more complicated than Tam Lin thought, all he wanted was to know how to ask out a girl.
Carabosse managed to lure Tam Lin away with a handsome male visage before revealing her true form, offering Tam Lin a chance to join her dark forces. He refused, and she unleashed the (altered) curse on him.

Everyone is free to participate in the Sub Quests. There are no specific top levels, so you're free to incorporate them however you wish in your own top level.

- Safe Zone. The safe zone in this location is a central outdoor plaza, which may not seem all that safe, but that's where they end up. Flowers from Tam Lin's forest can be found sprouting around the area and like before, the pollen can be used to help erect magical barriers to prevent enemies from entering. There are also small storehouses, barracks, and a kitchen nearby that can be used.
- Haunted Armor. Aside from the monsters, there is an army of haunted armor patrolling the halls and walls of the fortress, and some will even try to break into the safe zone. Although mostly armor, they are formidable foes, each one carrying the spirit of a strong, powerful knight of ancient times. Even if one were to hack off parts of the armor, they will still be able to move and even reattach themselves. The only way to completely destroy them is by piercing through the center of the chest piece where a stone core rests inside.
- Disabling Traps. There are numerous traps within the fortress, ranging from classic spikes from the walls to sudden pitfalls to revolving walls and even a rolling boulder. When venturing through the fortress, take care not to set them off because where there's on trap, there are sure to be more.

- Egg Thief. There are several dragon nests scattered about the towers, but there are these harpies that keep trying to steal them and fly away with them. Chase after them and return the eggs to earn the dragons' favor.
- Protect the Eggs. One would think a dragon wouldn't have trouble protecting its roost, but when it comes to smaller threats such as small basilisks and other large snakes, their large size becomes a disadvantage, especially if they don't want to accidentally crush their own brood. Help fend off these threats to earn the dragons' favor.
- Egg Hunt. Now some of these eggs are on the move. Whether taken by something else and hidden somewhere, rolled off on their own, or on their way to hatching with their little legs or wings already breaking through, they need to be found and returned to their nest before something truly terrible happens.

SCENE 2: QUEEN TITANIA AND CARABOSSE - FELIX AND SOLDIER: 76
ditch Oberon to join Carabosse, reconcile or start a catfight, Titania must reveal the truth behind the sabotaged letters. It would be in everyone's best interest if they made some kind of amends, but fairies. Grudges can last a while. Should the two end up fighting, the Aspects will find themselves able to to use new kind of magic specific to their role: Titania with light and earth magic, Carabosse with dark and death magic.no subject
Who designed these damn outfits?
[ Muttered to himself as he strides through the darkened forest grounds, searching for Carabosse. Or rather, whoever the hell is acting as Carabosse.
After his skirt gets caught on some thorns for what feels like the hundredth fucking time, Felix finally stops and calls out, ]

SCENE 3: BONNY ROSE AND PUCK - WEMBLEY FRAGGLE AND MASTER CRANE
no subject
There's good and bad to this - on the one hand, Crane is some type of Tree Creature and is currently flying Wembley through the dark fairy realm. The bad news, though, is that even on Crane's back, high in the air, this is terrifying. The path is lit by the fairy flying just ahead of Crane, which is droning on, but Wembley can't focus on them right now. He's too busy holding on tight and ducking gnarled, thorny branches that he's quite sure are moving to try and knock them down.]

The instructions were straight forward enough, and a kiss is thankfully not required, but...there's one detail towards the end that troubles him. A voice cackles in his mind. We get to fight a dragon! How exciting!
An eyeroll. There's a chance the "dragon" just ends up being a costume change. And what if it's not? Aren't you just a little excited for a challenge?]
A challenge within reason. [Not wanting to keep listening to the crazy voice in his head, he proceeds to open the door, walking inside and looks around. There is no way around whatever happens. He'll just have to act accordingly when the time comes.]

Find Tam Lin. The apparent lover-turned-dragon had taken to the skies. And here he was, at the window, dressed like a princess. Perfect. He hiked his skirts up and hurried along the corridor, traversing the spiral staircase. Up and out, right?
He threw open the door, and what he saw stopped him in his tracks.

[However, there was one small problem that he hadn't anticipated when the scene started up. The scene called for the one playing Tam Lin to be chased through the air in dragon form. And Karkat? Well, his dragon form happened to lack wings of any kind.]

(frozen comment) ---- INDIVIDUAL TOP LEVELS SEPARATOR ----
Naomi Kimishima | Sea Witch
[Since she didn't have a role herself this round, Naomi takes full advantage of the safe zone. Collecting pollen from the magical flowers, she makes sure to maintain the barrier for the others who might come and go handling any of the other side quests. And with the barrier maintained, she sets up in one of the barracks, what of her already prepared brews with her to help take care of any injuries.]
[Not that it only has to be business. If anyone wants to talk to her, she's available, but she does look like she's only there for work.]
[Dragon Egg Hunt: Protect the Eggs]
[Was she really suited for this? She doesn't think so, but the enemies that do approach have her attention. They would have their uses... once they expired or were temporarily halted. Basilisk fangs for example could go into plenty and their poison was potent. Still, to have to egg-sit and physically fight creatures off - it just wasn't her thing.]
[At least she has company in this nest besides the dragon...]
Protect the Eggs
So what exactly are 'Basilisks'? I never heard of them before.
(no subject)
Safe Zone
Or unlucky in this case. He wasn't sure where to go to get this dressed up, but he figured the barracks would be a good place. If nothing else, he could makeshift a bandage and take a nap. He could help others with their pain, but it seemed that didn't really work on himself. ]
!
[ He hadn't expected it to be occupied. The barracks were large enough, though. ]
Er... sorry. Uh... you wouldn't happen to know where a first aid kit is, would you?
[ He was new, so he had no idea about the healing properties of the flowers or anything like that. ]

Oswald | Hades
[Though the barrier protected the safe zone, it would be unwise to allow any threats to come and risk breaching or weakening it for those that didn't fight. And though there were plenty of enemies to deal with, the Haunted Armor posed the most danger. That's just how it was with specters similar to the Halja; and at least these ones could be taken down without concern of them returning.]
[If someone were to come with him, Oswald didn't seem to care as long as they could fight. On the other hand, his essence could placed him close to the Haunted Armor too; maybe too close should someone ill-prepared turn the corner and be startled to see his armor first.]
[Dragon Egg Hunt: Egg Hunt]
[Last he had issue with a dragon, it was due to the fact it was the Dragon of Prophecies. It was also supposed to be the last dragon in existence.]
[So to deal with them again - nay, deal with their hatching brood deciding to scamper off without breaking from their shells or to learn the eggs had been whisked away and hidden... not something he would've foreseen. Also, why would anyone decide it was a good idea to hide a dragon's eggs? Maybe they'd never dealt with temperamental dragons.]
[Either way, he skulked about, looking for the missing eggs, wondering if it was safe to transport them back through the shadows.]
[Wildcard]
[OOC: Want Oswald for anything else? Just say! He's present for any of the side quests whether he wants to be or not (most likely not haha).]
Dungeon Sweep: Haunted Armor
[Fuuka blurted out the name before she could stop herself, and covered her mouth instantly. She had been preparing to go inside the fortress, either to disable traps or to help with the fighting, when she had spotted him. Despite their scene together being so tense, she couldn't help but feel relieved at seeing a familiar face, if not a friendly one. Moving towards him, she waved a hand.]
"S-sorry, I know that's not your name...I just haven't seen anyone I know yet...I'm assuming you're going in? Do you...want any help?"
[This place was reminding her so much of her nights spent helping her friends climb the dangerous tower, Tartarus, and she so desperately wanted to be helpful. Even if she wasn't really needed.]

Kaiba | Santa Claus
Kaiba was relieved to have his human form back. The fae and equine forms had both been difficult to work with. But of course they were stuck once again in a dangerous setting. He hauled his sack of toys over his shoulder and set off down the hall, flashlight in hand.
That creaking sound sure was ominous.
"Who's there?"
Protect the eggs
Kaiba's mood improved considerably when he heard about the dragons. An opportunity to see the majestic beasts up close...he was ready for this. He could be found patrolling the outer rims of the nesting grounds, metal baseball bat in hand. Every so often, he'd look back at the nest.
"They're magnificent..."
no subject
Oh-- Hey, Kaiba-san!
[Looks like Kaiba got up there first, and-- wait a sec. Was that a...?]
How's the nest going? And--where did you get that baseball bat from?

Minato Arisato | Thanatos
[ If there was one thing he was grateful for, it was still being able to carry a sword. It was a bit thicker and broader than he was used to, but Minato wasn't going to let them stop him. His wings, now leathery instead of feathered, beat powerfully as pulled himself back from a mighty swing of the armor. The metal clanged as he continued to dodge, unable to find an opening quite yet to pierce the metal suit. ]
Tch...!
Protect the Eggs - Wildcard Edition
[ His very thick dragon's tail came in handy with some of the snakes. He hadn't realized it was strong, not until he accidentally crushed the head of one when he turned. Another was cut by his sword. Even when there were no snakes, Minato felt like he was outright babysitting as the eggs started to hatch and moved around. He was careful not to accidentally crush any.
But it also wore him out. Which is how, by the end of the day, all within the roost were taking a nap. Minato's partial dragon form served as something familiar to the babies and even the mother, his wings serving as a pseudo-blanket and his tail curled around some of the more lively eggs to prevent them from moving. The rest of him was curled around a someone bigger egg. He felt something nudge his head, pulling him from his nap. ]
Mmmph? [ A yawn. Oh, was the mother waking him up? What for? ...oh, hi. ] Is it your turn to watch them?

Wembley Fraggle | Ferdinand the Bull
[Wembley is going to be spending most of his time after his Scene resting in the barracks. He can mostly be found under furniture or curled up on chairs. The little guy is pretty banged up with bruises and scratches from his risky flight with Crane through the dark fairy realm... But he seems in good spirits regardless, constantly humming upbeat tunes to himself. Hey, he helped to continue and save the story, after all!]
B: Protect the Eggs
[Once resting up gets too boring, Wembley heads out from the barracks and eventually discovers the other towers... As a former egg caretaker himself, this quest is near to his heart! He's taking it seriously, but his approach is... Different. He doesn't feel particularly like he can fight anything off, even with his bull horns, so he's focusing on caring for the eggs. He's climbed up on top of one, though with his small size he can't be doing much to warm it, can he?
Well, at least it's a good look-out spot, and he calls out to other Aspects who are protecting the eggs whenever he sees a snake approaching- Speaking of which:]
Behind you! Get it!

Her mood was low as she moved through the area, though it shifted slightly as she heard a soft, cheerful tune. Turning, she thought she saw...well, she wasn't entirely sure. A small...boy? He looked a bit worse for wear, but was happily humming a tune to himself. Without realizing it, Fuuka had slowed to a stop, and was watching him, wondering where he got such cheer from when he looked like he had been through so much, when she barely manage a smile, and she had just burned some food.]

Dragon Eggs
[Fuuka was in her dragon form helping round up runaway eggs, which meant she was barely the size of a cat, sporting butterfly wings, and generally looking significantly more delicate then the massive serpent of a dragon in front of her. She knew he was like her, a person who was transformed into a dragon, but she couldn't help noting how big his teeth were.]

Fuuka Yamagishi | Princess from East of the Sun and West of the Moon
[Back home, Fuuka had been a terrible cook. Her dear friends, Minako and Shinji, had helped her become a decent cook; showing her how to not over think recipes and actually follow them, not just guessing at what needed to be done. It had taken her the better part of a year, but Fuuka had finally been able to make something that didn't make anyone sick.
Since coming to Index, she hadn't been able to practice or cook for anyone, something she regretted. Now, standing in the safe zone--which had a kitchen--she saw an opportunity. An opportunity to help! To feed others! To give them comfort in a stressful time. Yes, she would definitely be an asset here!
Or at least, that was her plan. As she stared at the bubbling monstrosity in front of her--she had hoped to make a vegetable soup but it resembled a charred lava pit--she was reminded how long it had been since she had actually cooked anything. And that she didn't have anyone guiding her like before, gently stopping her from going overboard.]
"Oh dear...m-maybe...maybe...some more vegetables would help...?"
[Moving to the pantry, she began grabbing anything that looked remotely like a vegetable--should she really be grabbing that much ginger?--so lost in thought she didn't notice her pot of sludge beginning to boil over the sides.]
[I. C: Disabling Traps]
[This had definitely not gone as planned. Back home, Fuuka was very good at sensing traps and finding monsters. She no longer had her psychic powers here, but she had hoped that didn't mean she would totally clueless. But as she hung upside down on a rope by her feet, pushing her skirt down to keep herself modest, she knew that had been a fool's hope. Controlling wind was a good power, but not very helpful when it came to avoiding traps. Looking down, she noted the spiked pit that had opened beneath her as well.]
"This used to be your job you know, keeping people safe. Telling them when and where there was danger...now look at you. Can't even go into a simple fortress without setting something off..."
[She muttered to herself, glancing down the hallway. Hopefully someone would come by soon and could help her down, as embarrassing as it was.]
[II. C: Egg Hunt]
[Though Fuuka had initially been disappointed in her small dragon form, she was finding it to be quite the asset in hunting down eggs. She could fit into areas the bigger dragons could not, and she could sneak past most dangers without any trouble. Because of this, was had taken it upon herself to look for a golden egg that had, apparently, rolled out of the nest. The mother dragon was certain it would hatch soon, and it needed to be found ASAp, lest the poor baby hatch on its own. Fuuka took the task with enthusiasm, instantly heading out into the wooded area in search of the egg.
Still, she was no bigger then a cat, making the forest even bigger then if she was in her human form. Perched on a rock, her blue, green, and purple butterfly wings fluttered as she squinted into the underbrush. There were plenty of sounds and movement...but nothing denoting a lost egg. Crossing her claws, she hummed in thought. The other eggs had been closer to home. Surely this one couldn't have rolled TOO far. Lost in thought, she was oblivious to anyone coming close to her, dangerous or otherwise...]
I:C
Oh shit, oh shit, he'd been looking around the other room, and heard something clickCLICK-- and Fuuka's startled voice.]
F-fuuka where are you--W-whoa!!
[S-She was totally hanging upside down...!! He ran to her-- only JUST noticing the spike pit in time to skid to a halt.]
Are you okay?!?

Gobo Fraggle | Hermes
[Gobo may be small, but he was a leader, even if he hardly knew any of the people here yet. That had changed nothing, and acting out in a couple scenes here had him feeling particularly involved- responsible? -in this story. So once he's able to, he's walking around the safe zone, checking on people and making sure everyone is well.
You may have him pass by while taking a rest, or stop-] Need anything? Holding up okay? [-just to check on your wellbeing. As for resting himself, well he can take care of that later. He had to do this first.]
B. Protect the Eggs
[There wasn't usually anything he could do in the way of fighting. True, he'd gotten tough from time to time down at the Rock, but most of the enemies here were far bigger and meaner than even the worst Poison Cackler, and his abilities from his Essence didn't lend themselves much to fighting.
That didn't mean he wouldn't try, though! Especially now with the new transformation. One may find Gobo, plus a pair of feathered/webbed wings -traversing from nest to nest, securing it and chasing away the harpies when he could. A lifetime of living among rocks and cliffs made him perfectly suited for scaling the broken towers, and if he did slip his wings, either dragon or anklet, would catch his fall. His music spells may not do much against the harpies, but throwing rocks at them might, and he wasn't afraid to get right up in their faces if he had to.
Every now and then though, the full transformation would be necessary. He may only be able to have it for a few minutes at a time, and it was only about as big as a donkey not counting wings and tail, but he could use it to travel SO much faster. Might even find another Aspect in trouble, either helping them fight, catching them from a nasty fall, or picking them up to another nest. This part of the story had given him a new way to challenge things, and by the Great Rock he was going to use it!]
