Characters: Miyamoto Musashi [Issun-boshi] and anyone else!
Campaign: Break
Format: [ these ]
Open
Summary: Intro log for Musashi! Settling in during the break, power testing, and stabbing a snowman in the face.
[ a - settling in ]
[ Hoo boy, was it ever chilly outside. For exactly that reason, Musashi decides one of her first stops in this new world she volunteered to go to is the tavern. A nice drink will warm her up! ... Or really, she just realized what she agreed to and noticed she's missing three of her four swords now, so ... yeah, she probably should start this off with a drink.
Now with a tall bottle of booze and a cup to pour it into, Musashi idly flips through the journal to get a better understanding of what's going on, taking breaks to drink here and there. As well as look around the tavern for anyone else who stands out. After all, talking is easier than just reading about all this stuff, right? Besides, there were just some things this journal wasn't gonna answer for her.
If she manages to lock eyes with someone, she'll be giving them a friendly grin before grabbing her drink and moving over to them. If she doesn't spot anyone while she's in the tavern, she'll be doing the same "looking around for others who stand out" thing after she leaves, while wandering around to get familiar with the city layout. ]
Hey there! Do you have a few minutes to spare for me?
[ b - snowmen ]
No, it's just not the same ...
[ Musashi's quietly grumbling to herself, having just stabbed her katana right through the head of a snowman. ... What? It threw a snowball at her first! It had it coming!
Either way, she pulls her sword out of the poor snowman's head - weird, did it always have a frowny-face expression on it? - and looks it over with an edge of disappointment in her expression before sheathing it again. ]
As for you, stop it with the snowballs, okay? Don't think I'm not serious. I'll have you melted down to nothing if I catch you again.
[ She might be sternly scolding this snowman, but she's quick to follow that with an embarrassed grin. Boy is she going to feel silly if it turns out to be neighborhood kids or something. ]
[ c - power test ]
[ Aside from the single katana, Musashi also came in equipped with a small wooden mallet. Sitting out in the woods despite the cold weather, she idly flips it around in her hand, looking it over with interest. This was because of her Essence, right? Should she read up on the lore behind it, or maybe just mess around and see what happens? Well, messing around would be the easiest way to understand, and that's exactly what she decides to try out first.
Someone who might be watching from afar may notice that, after she taps herself on the arm with it, she'll seem to suddenly vanish in a blink. ... Or did she? That tiny, colorful 3cm thing on the stump Musashi was originally sitting on couldn't possibly be her, could it?
Yes it is, and she's laughing. This is hilarious, amazing, and kind of terrifying. She can pull off so many dine-and-dashes with this ability if things ever got that bad! Holy geez, she needs to read up on what else this thing can do. ]

She disappears.]
What the—!?
[He's caught so off guard by the sudden disappearance that he sits up so fast he hits the branch above him, loses his balance, and fall to the snow covered ground below. Well. Now Musashi knows someone else was there.]
no subject
Heyyyy~! Are you still alive?
[ Good grief she's so tiny right now. Can this guy even hear her? She can't really tell, but she did shout as loud as she could manage! ]
no subject
Damn that hurt... [But then he thinks he hears tiny screeching snd—
WAIT.
Suddenly standing in mild panic.]
Oh shit, shit, HEY! PERSON?? I didn't land on them did I??
[Had they gone invisible? Or maybe just poofed and teleported somewhere?? BUT THE TINY VOICE WHAT IF—
Yeah Musashi be careful because he's kind of moving around.]

no subject
H-Hey, hold on! Just stay still, would you?! If you keep that up I really will get crushed!
[ Should she hit herself with that mallet again? That wouldn't make her even smaller somehow, right?! Ugh, maybe she should've researched her Essence's lore before messing around ... ]
no subject
Okay...I swear I thought I heard a voice this time.
no subject
So he definitely can't hear me from down here. Okay, let's try this!
[ With that (most likely barely audible) declaration, Musashi hits herself with her mallet once more and BAM she's suddenly a solid 5'5" again in the blink of an eye.
And probably about a yard away from Rokurou when she pulls this off. Sorry for your heart attack, buddy. She's immediately heaving a sigh of relief once it's clear she's back to normal. ]
Whew ... Too close! That would've been a terrible way to go.
no subject
GWAAUGH!!!
[Loud yell of surprise, flailing of arms, and falling back on his back. Yep.]
no subject
For a second. Then she laughs sheepishly. ]
S-Sorry, sorry! As a newbie here, I had to try a few things out, you know? I just couldn't risk you stomping on me!
[ And since it's her fault and all, she walks over and holds out her hand to help him up. ]

You came here from another world too, didn't you? You kind of stand out ... Anyway, do you happen to know anything about swords?
no subject
no subject
[ Now Musashi's definitely not leaving this guy alone. Worse (?) yet, she's trying to peer under his hood from where she's standing to get a better look at his face. ]
Well well, lucky me then! See, I usually have more than just this one sword - [ which she takes a second to pat ] - and I'm looking to get at least one more. You wouldn't happen to know a reputable swordsmith around here, would you?
no subject
Hm, there is someone I have been seeing I can introduce you to. I couldn't tell you much about them, I haven't been here long myself. What weapons they did have on display though, I could tell they were of the finest quality. [...] As long as you have the money to afford it, of course.
no subject
As for herself, she makes no attempt to hide the katana at her own hip, or the odd wooden mallet hanging next to it. ]
Money will be a problem for a while. But if it means I get a high quality blade, then I'll do whatever I need to! [ ... ] So, where is this place?
no subject
Here. [He takes her into a narrow alleyway that led to...no where?]
no subject
Except now he's saying "here" and this alley looks like it goes nowhere. Uh? ]
Here? ... Is this place invisible, or should I be worried?

[Roxas was too young to go to the tavern, but he occasionally made his way into town for various different items. He looked up at the woman who approached him, stopping mid-step to face her.]
Sure. What do you need?
no subject
Well whatever, important question time-- ]
Huh ... Oh, right. Do you know a lot about the food they serve in this place? It's very important.
[ it's really not ]
no subject
Oh, there is a really nice ice cream parlour, though. [Priorities. Roxas has them.]
no subject
[ Musashi tilts her head with a puzzled expression. Then a moment later, shakes her head. ]
Well, I'll take your word on that and try it when it's warmer maybe. But for right now, something warm would be best, right? ... So what I'm asking is, where do I go to grab some udon here?
no subject
[Roxas had to frown a bit, thinking it over.]
I haven't really looked, but I don't think I've seen a place that sells udon.
no subject
[ She's pretty disappointed, but still, hope exists! ]
Maybe you just haven't seen the place yet. Is there some part of this city you haven't really looked at closely?
no subject
[He's only gone to a few himself, but he did know that the worlds were pretty unique from one another.]
You're probably right. So far I haven't really gone out of this side of town, so there could be entire restaurants I haven't seen yet.
no subject
[ She looks away for a moment, then back to Roxas with a grin. ]
... Hey. Have you ever eaten udon before?
