Chapter 06: Act I
FRANKENHYDE: ACT I—
§ instructions.
Frankenhyde Act I is underway! This is the designated log for all Main Scenes. Others are free to create their own toplevels for the Sub Quests, which are detailed below. Each Main Scene has their own unique toplevel and those cast into the roles are to thread their scene under each. All scene instructions are provided in the toplevels.
A few reminders. The city's setting is steampunk themed, so while for the most part it follows ye old Victorian England style, you have a lot of Industrial accents and odd machines about, including small airships. There is a river, so ports and docks are available but although this place may seem large, it's actually a finite space. Sailing down the river will be an endless loop back to the start with fog being the only visible "boundary." Passing through this fog will them back to where they were. There are also numerous research labs and other buildings, but many of them are locked or sealed behind an invisible barrier so no one can enter. The "locals" are all blots, so they are more like living puppets that will have minimum response to anyone who tries to interact with them. Most are neutral, but will attack if provoked. There are also some that are immediately hostile, and are differentiated by the sparks of electricity they generate around their bodies. The "safe zone" for this campaign will be a designated apartment building. Everyone can either bunk together or choose their own room.
Finally, just to be clear, characters who are assigned roles will know beforehand and can either communicate with their partner beforehand or just wait until they're in the scene. To get to their scene, characters must enter a specially marked door in the apartment building to be transported into their scene. They will automatically return upon completion (or if something goes horribly horribly wrong). Threading all of that isn't necessary, but it's to help give a better idea that characters can take a break between scenes or wait a bit to help with other things like the Sub Quests.
Feel free to refer to the Game Notes for more detailed info as well as ask questions or clarifications.
§ sub quests.
Everyone is free to participate in the Sub Quests. There are no specific top levels, so you're free to incorporate them however you wish in your own top level.
¶ I. Help the Scientists. A lot of work needs to be done to help the research experiments be a success, some of it a bit more unsavory than the rest.
¶ II. Help the Locals. Like most damaged stories, the local townspeople are not real but Blots taking the form of the original residents. Most are friendly and continue about their lives without paying much attention to the Aspect and providing basic assistance or keeping out of their way. They do not speak but seem to understand if communicated to.
¶ III. Trick-or-Treat! It seems everyone came in time for Halloween. Although not quite as festive as current day, the children still participate in some lighthearted trick-or-treating. The Aspects are free to participate either in wearing costumes, doling out candy, or playing tricks, but they will want to keep an eye out. Some of these costumes appear too good, and some unfortunate accidents and incidents will reveal odd mutant experiments have escaped and mingled with the crowds. Most are not hostile and just cause accidents and disturbances, so they can be gathered and returned to the various research labs. Others may prove a bit more "bite-y" so more force may be necessary to subdue them.
¶ IV. Wildcard. Make up your own prompt!

§ sub quests.

- Gather Ingredients. There are a lot of things that go into creating life, so cue the fetch quest. Items range from organs from wildlife to various plants and herbs to tools such as thread, needles, and large bolts. These items can be found throughout the town and outside of the forest and can be left at either of the buildings that is set for Frankenstein's and Jekyll's laboratories. Do note that no one except those who are cast for the scenes can go inside (there is an impenetrable barrier that will shock anyone who tries to enter).
- Bzzzzt. The scientists also need to generate a lot of electricity. Outside each laboratory are various generators used to harness and conduct electricity: lightning rods that can be attached anywhere, strange boxes that need to be powered, and even an odd looking metal ball that can be opened to physically capture lightning. Just be careful to not get shocked!

- Science Fair. There is a local science fair being held that anyone can participate in! Rewards...aren't that great, but it's the experience that matters. But as expected, things don't go smoothly as various experiments and projects go awry. With the technology as it is, this can be even more dangerous as more than one is dealing with explosive fuel or have way out-of-the-box inventions such as flying motorized bikes or small automaton of some kind.
- Dangerous Blots. There are some blots who are badly damaged by Erasers and are more prone to attack. Those that have small electric sparks around them will have jerky movements and must be subdued or destroyed. There are also real Erasers lurking about, taking the form of unidentifiable homunculus and small chimera.

¶ IV. Wildcard. Make up your own prompt!
Ren Amamiya | Persona 5 | Robin Hood
Ren isn't exactly a big science guy, or really the type to be serious about school, but that doesn't mean he was stupid.
He makes an automaton arm that pours liquid for someone. It doesn't go too well. Either when the timing is off and it pours tea for too long, overflowing the tea cup, or in that latest attempt, it goes out of control.
So unless your character is quick enough, they might get sprayed with water.
Treat or treat
Ren decided to have some fun and dress up for the holiday. It couldn't hurt.
So he's wandering around in his own costume. Even if he doesn't get much candy, at least he has an excuse to dress up. At the moment, he's entertaining some young blobs by pretending to do magic like a wizard.
Care to join or mess up his act?
Dangerous Blots
Oh great, more of them. After having to help Minato deal with some, it seems Ren ran into more infected blobs and this time he's alone. With no back-up at all. Great.
He summons his bow and quiver and gets it ready. Unfortunately he is quickly surrounded. This isn't good. Not at all.
Help?
dangerous blots
With his spear in his hand, he was ready for a surprise attack should they look around.
no subject
This gives Ren some time to fire arrows at the other remaining blobs and dodge attacks as best he can. Granted, he's still new with fighting with a bow, so he does get scratched with claws by one of them.
He curses under his breath but does his best to keep going.
no subject
Immediately, he slashed as much as he could for the blobs that came his way. "Are you okay?" He shouted before running his way. "I'll try to attack in front and you can in the back!"
no subject
"It's just a minor scratch." Considering that he's bleeding a little, it's more than just a minor scratch.
"Okay." He focuses on attacking the back and leave the front for Ken to take care of.
no subject
Not that he meant in a mean way, he was just hoping Ren would take his injury more seriously. Either way, with his spear, he quickly started to attacking whatever blobs that was near his way. He just hoped they would start backing off eventually.
"Do you know what your Essence is? What other powers do you have?"
no subject
He fires more arrows at the blots before answering his question. "It's Robin Hood, and I don't have any other powers other than summoning this bow."
At least for now.
no subject
"Then we need to figure out what's the best way to attack them quickly. I don't know my own powers that well either!" He was starting to get worried as a blob tried to surprise attack him from the side.
"This would be so much easier with Kala-Nemi around...!" He mumbled under his breath.
no subject
"Or get away if we can't take them down fast enough." No reason to stick around if this proves too much for just the two of them.
So he's another persona user, which is a bit surprising. He didn't think younger kids than teenagers could gain any, but he supposes it makes sense.
"Or if I still Satanael or my other personas."
He almost wishes the Metaverse were still around and connected to this place. But he wouldn't be a massive jerk to actually wish that.
no subject
He could be a fighter too!
Just as he was about to say something, that's when he gave him a questioning look. "Wait, you're a Persona user too?" Now that's something new. However, that did distract him from a blob coming toward his way.
no subject
Thankfully Ren fires more arrows at the blob heading for Ken, and that stops it in it's tracks.
"That's right. I also have the same ability as Minato too."
no subject
His surprise had to wait. "You know Arisato-san too?" Just how many people did he know here? "I shouldn't be surprised, if he could do it, there had to be other people too!"
He said before a blob came closer to him. "It makes me wonder how many more are out there."

Dangerous Blots
His khopesh appeared in each hand and he ran forward. He hooked one blade around the neck of a blot and yanked, easily destroying it just as he whirled around to slice at another. "You okay, Ren?"
no subject
Thankfully the blot died at the slice as well as another. Which allows Ren more room to work with. Especially since he's still got a cut from getting clawed at earlier when Ken had found him.
At least the bleeding had stopped.
"Yeah, but we should focus on these guys first." Especially since they keep coming towards them.
Ren fires more arrows at the charging blots, while keeping an eye out incase he needs to cover Yosuke.
no subject
“Hey!” He backed up and held out a dagger to Ren. “In case you run out.”
Just try not to stab yourself with it, Ren.
no subject
He grins at that and accepts the dagger. "Actually this is better."
He makes the bow and quiver disappear and proceeds to slice up blots with much more ease and speed than before. He's glad he still has his old knife fighting skills and feels more natural to him. He doesn't have to rely on instincts given to him from his essence.
At least now they can take them all down this time.
no subject
no subject
He nods. "I do hope neither of us run into any more for a while." Especially since he can't heal himself with any personas or healing items.
Now that things have settled, he can ask. "So you usually fight with knives, too?"
no subject
Yosuke blinked and then grinned. "Yeah! I started out with whatever I could find, like wrenches and stuff. But I'd gotten way better with knives over the year. These things, uh... khopesh? I think I'm sayin' that right, are pretty neat to use. Figured I'd give them a go."
no subject
"I usually fought with a knife and a handgun for shadows that are weak to gun and do a hold-up with them when they all are knocked down."
Ren knows from how the other two Wildcards acted that he shouldn't expect Yosuke to get it. Since it's different with each group. He's starting to have a theory that shadows defer depending on where they are usually located.
"It's good to try out different weapons once in a while." Speaking of which. "I really should do some training when the story's over. It's so awkward to fight with a bow and arrow."
no subject
"Hm," He folded his arms in thought. "I mean, Yukari-san did it pretty easily even in her Featherman get up. So I imagine you could too! Just takes trial and error, right? Kanji fought shadows with a chair most of the time."
no subject
The last part makes Ren pause. "Wait... you're talking about Yukari Takeba, the actress that played in Featherman? She's a Persona user?"
Man if Futuba were here, she would blow her casket and go into total fangirl mode.

Science Fair
Maybe... That invention should be in a less busy spot.
no subject
Sorry! I wasn't expecting the machine to go out of control like that. I've been trying to get it to work properly, but this isn't exactly one of my expertise.
