Chapter 07: Act I
SUGAR PLUM BEAST: ACT I—
§ instructions.
The Sugar Plum Beast Act I is underway! This is the designated log for all Main Scenes. Others are free to create their own toplevels for the Sub Quests, which are detailed below. Each Main Scene has their own unique toplevel and those cast into the roles are to thread their scene under each. All scene instructions are provided in the toplevels.
Quick reminder that everyone is dressed to fit the rustic village style! Costumes for each role is linked in the scene they first appear but carry over into other scenes. And for those who are cast as Beast roles, will undergo full transformation, though the degree of transformation is up to the players. They can go into full hulking beast or be something more benign and cute with just ears and a tail or something. The Beast form also can be whatever you want, there is no set "design." In terms of affected personality, in general those in the role will be a little angrier and grumpy than usual, but it's not a complete personality switch. So it's possible to have the character mostly unaffected but snap or get annoyed more easily than usual or over the most random things they normally wouldn't. However there are cases when they may fly off the handle and while we leave it up to the players on if and when that can happen during a scene, anything more extreme that is specifically required will be noted for that scene.
Finally, just to be clear, characters who are in Main Scenes are not immediately dropped into their location and will have to go through designated flowered arches and then return. Threading all of that isn't necessary, but it's to help give a better idea that characters can take a break between scenes or wait a bit to help with other things like the Sub Quests.
Feel free to refer to the Game Notes for more detailed info as well as ask questions or clarifications.
§ sub quests.
Everyone is free to participate in the Sub Quests. There are no specific top levels, so you're free to incorporate them however you wish in your own top level.
¶ I. Toy Repair. Scattered around the roads and around the boundaries of the town are damaged sometimes broken toys. They vary in size and shape, but for some reason their expressions are one of fear and pain. Take the toys back to Drosselmeyer's workshop and try to repair them. Even a fresh coat of paint will make the toys seem happier and relieved. Who knows maybe this good act will be returned later…
¶ II. Toysitters. Some of the toys brought into the workshop are on the young, baby side, and boy are they needy. Constantly crying "Mama! Papa! Poopy!" one would easily think they're just malfunctioning. Though that's strange, does this kind of setting have the technology for these toys to have voice recordings...? Regardless, better pair up with someone and try to soothe these baby dolls before the locals come in wondering what kind of witchcraft is going on in there.
¶ III. Garden Birthday Party. There is a birthday party being thrown and everyone is invited to either help decorate or just chill and enjoy the food. However, the garden it's held in needs some pruning. You know those plastic joke flowers that squirt water at people? They're blooming all over the place and are dousing anyone who gets near them. Either weed them out or figure out a way to lessen their water output! And of course there are Eraser and hostile toy blot problems that need to be taken care of. The further out towards the boundaries of the town, the more dangerous it is.
¶ IV. Easter Egg Hunt. Similar to a scavenger hunt, toy eggs have been scattered all over town and all the children are having fun trying to find as many eggs as they can. Perhaps the Aspects want to join in either hiding or finding eggs. However, some of these eggs are actually not toys but rotten, or if they are toys, terrible pranks like a pie to the face or a small firecracker exploding happen once opened. Some of the children are upset, even hurt, so it's imperative to find the culprit! Witnesses say they saw a strange, yellow polka dotted Velveteen rabbit hopping around the areas where the prank eggs are found.

"Kappa are Japanese and it's customary to bow to one another, especially before combat," He replied, placing the back of his hand on Nino's head. Looks like the heat was dying down. He didn't know kappas suffered like that without the water. "Maybe we should get you a cap to put on top to keep the water inside."
He was surprised something like this didn't happen sooner.
no subject
He makes a sigh of relief as his body cooled down and he started to feel better. Well if Nino had gone on too long without water, he would have not only fried, but his body would eventually give out from being cooked from the inside.
So yeah Makoto saved Nino's life here.
"I have been thinking of getting some kind of helmet or something to cover it up before we ended up here. Especially since I dunno how I'll be able to deal with winter when that comes several months from now." The books did nothing on that front.
Nino had been lucky really until this point.
no subject
He wondered if Nino still had to feed on blood to survive. They changed for their essence, but it was never 100%. Would normal food sustain him?
no subject
He pauses as he pushes up his glasses before continuing. "Lately I've having a weird craving for something. I know in the books I've read, it mentioned that sometimes kappas drink blood or eat livers. I don't think it's livers."
In the first month, cucumbers were just fine with him but it seems the bloodlust is starting to kick in, though it's not bad yet.
no subject
"I'll be right back."
He took the bucket back to the well to dump the rest of the water back in, before asking a resident he could borrow a small bowl and a small knife. He was obliged and promised to return it cleaned. Then, he sat down a little ways away from the resident but also from Nino so he couldn't see. He set the bowl down on the ground and, after a moment's thought, cut the inside of his arm. The blood welled and dripped down into the bowl. He barely hissed in pain.
When he returned to Nino, he handed the bowl to Nino. There was a handkerchief tied around his forearm as well. "Let me know if that's not enough."
no subject
Nino waited in his seat until Makoto came back and when he did, his eyes widened. But before he could say anything, something changed in Nino. He looks down at the bowl of blood with hungry eyes and his fangs extend to full length.
He grabs the bowl and drinks the blood. Wow, it actually tastes good. Before would have had a metallic taste, but he didn't taste that at all. He places the bowl down but at this point, his eyes were clouded and he stared at Makoto, almost as if in a trance. His body is barely holding himself back from attacking the older teen. Good thing Nino has a fairly strong will.
Seems that wasn't enough.
no subject
It was a bit weird and awkward, but there wasn't much else he could do about it. He untied the handkerchief and held out his arm, looking away. He also hid Nino from view with his wings.
Perhaps they could look into getting blood from a butcher's shop later when they were back in Index. Probably something to bring up later. For now, he was just going to have to deal with what he started.
no subject
As soon as the handkerchief was undone and the arm extended out, Nino climbed onto the table to reach the arm. He holds the arm before then plunging his fangs into it. He starts to drink and it's surprisingly even better drinking from the arm rather than just a bowl. It'll be a while before Nino will finish drinking blood.
Hopefully they won't need someone to intervene to keep Makoto from dying a second time.
no subject
He tugged at his arm. "Stop."
no subject
Thankfully since Nino wasn't starving, he does pull the fangs out and move away. He wipes his mouth with a hand and his eyes return to normal. He feels a lot better than before too. Not to mention full.
"You okay, Makoto? Do you need like chocolate or something?" He hopes he didn't hurt him too much.
no subject
When was the last time he had been anemic? What do you do? They had cookies but would they be enough?
no subject
He grabs some cookies and tries to help him eat them. The anemic teen needs the sugar right now. Nino hopes he won't need to run to get some chocolate.
no subject
Or did he need to keep eating? He took the third cookie to munch on it, his arm hurt too. He didn't regret doing that though, if it helped his friend. But perhaps they should have been better prepared.
no subject
Nino certainly can't carry him. The essence didn't give him super strength and he certainly doesn't have the Turtle Miraculous to change into Carapace.

no subject
"Yeah I feel pretty full now but I'm more concerned about you." He starts to take out his journal. "Know any doctors I could call over, or should I just ask if anyone can help us?"
Because there's no way he's gonna leave Makoto in this state.
no subject
Mm, sleepy.
"Don't know any doctors." Maybe he could have Nino call Ren? But it wasn't like Ren could do anything except maybe carry his anemic ass to a nearby bed or something. Better than nothing, he supposed. "Dial Ren Amamiya, he can get me to where we're staying at least."
no subject
"I can try, but I don't think you should sleep dude." He then proceeds to try to contact Ren, and accidentally make it open to everyone), while trying to keep Makoto awake.
no subject
Although really, he probably should eat some more. Did they have anything heavy in iron here? Probably not. Ugh, the worst time to lose blood, huh? Not that Makoto was particularly worried about it.
"I'll be fine."
no subject
Sorry Makoto but Nino is too freaked out at this point. Not to mention starting to feel guilty for feeding off Makoto's blood. He knows from watching vampire movies that it's too easy for a person to die from blood loss.
He watches over the journal, doing what he can to not let Makoto nap. "C'mon...c'mon..."
no subject
He shifted a little and then frowned with a soft hiss. That aggravated his arm. Ugh, so inconvenient. "Seriously, I'll be fine. I'm not dying."
And he knew what dying felt like. Not that Nino knew that.
no subject
Unfortunately Nino's too freaked out to really listen at this point. He does see that and makes him still up again, while trying not to make the arm hurt worse.
He looks at the sleeve of his yukata and starts to consider if he should ripe a piece off to tie up the arm. Since the handkerchief needs replacing.
