“No,” Minato replied. “There are those who don’t care about their own life which can drive them to do unspeakable acts. I was just wondering if that’s what you meant by bored. But if you do value your life, if you’re afraid of dying, then you should probably think about what you want out of this place.”

His head tilted slightly.

“Especially since Earth’s fate is on the line again. I’d rather not have the choice I made be in vain because some cowardly detective got bored again.”

Adachi stares at Minato before just starting to laugh. He laughs for a while before shaking his head with a grin.

"Why would I care about Earth? That place is beyond redemption no matter what we do. And you choice? Probably pointless too."

Koromaru started to growl but Minato patted his head to calm him.

"If it were pointless, then I guess you really don't value your own life," He said. "I suppose that would have been one upside. You would have been gone well before you threw the first woman into the TV."

But he also didn't value the lives of murderers over innocents. Everyone deserved a chance and this would have all happened before Adachi even had the thought to do what he did. It was like stopping a crime before it happened but then at that point, it's just a thought crime. And Minato wasn't the police.

"Even if Earth was beyond redemption, Index isn't your world to fool around in. If you want to throw your life away, don't drag others into it."

"There ain't good decisions without some bad consequences", Adachi says with a shrug. You save the world, but you also save the murderers. It's a sad story really.

Adachi chuckles. "Well, it's not like I can just leave, now can I? So you're stuck with me and my decisions until they throw me out."
