Character Introduction Log: October 2020
Intro Log: October 2020—
§ instructions.
Greetings and welcome to the intro log for Forgotten Tales! There are no hard and fast rules here. Just include your Character, canon, and essence in the subject line and post away! Network prompts are allowed in the intro log, so feel free to put one in.
In terms of timeline, the intro log can span over several days, so don't feel as if everything has to happen all at once. You are also free to post your own logs at any time, and can even take these prompts for them! Reminder: certain threads from the Test Drive can be used and carried over into the intro log! So you are free to port over and continue threads from the TDM if you'd like.
For more information or to ask any questions, refer to the accompanying Game Notes.
§ prompts.
¶ I. Adjusting to a New Life. Even after being told by the Storyteller about everything, there's still a lot to learn. There's also the satchel and journal to investigate and figuring out where they live. The Index itself is a large, vast city inhabited by a large variety of characters from numerous stories. Because of this, there is no uniform style to the city. One street could look like a normal street plucked out of a Victorian, English fairy tale and then the very next is made of candy. It makes for an interesting mishmash of cultures that somehow manages to get along. Most of the time, at least.
¶ II. Festival Fun. It's been two years since the Aspects first arrived and efforts to push back against the Story Eater have proven successful. To celebrate, all the worlds are throwing a giant party in Index, and since it's entering the spooky season of Halloween, many are using it as an excuse to set up decorations and celebrate early. It's all fun and games, but of course mishaps and trouble are also around. Still, when a world made of stories throws a party, they really go all out!
¶ III. Party Crashers. There's always a fear that something will go wrong, or worse—the Story Eater might appear again. However, a more local threat has decided to try and ruin the festival. In addition to the mayhem alluded to in the Test Drive (Section II prompts), more problems are rearing their ugly heads as things escalate.
¶ IV. Wildcard. Make up your own prompt! Especially in regards to the festival, anything can really happen.

Most of the time, at least.- A. Brushing Up on the Lore. Perhaps a trip to the Grand Library to read up on the essence's stories wouldn't be such a bad idea. It might help give the Aspect some ideas as to what they can do. But you know, it would be their luck to have a large tome dedicated to their stories way high up on a top shelf. And the ladder is rusty. Might need some help.
- B. Magic Journals. For those of the modern era, needing to write is going to be an interesting exercise. But after reading the instructions, maybe they want to reach out, see who else is out there. Or troll people with dumb doodles.
- C. Test Those Skills. Testing out a new spell or weapon? Great! Just be mindful of the surroundings—this is all new and no one has thought to create a special training area for everyone (yet). And while most of the locals are happy and hopeful about their potential heroes, broken windows or almost burning one of them won't go over too well. For those who feel ready to try and take on a few jobs and earn some cash, the Commission Board will have a few jobs waiting. They may want a partner, however.
- D. House Hunting. Among the items found in the satchel is a set of keys. These keys will magically lead their new owner to the house they will be living in for as long as they are in the Realm of Stories. The home will be styled to fit the essence and the location will also be fitting of that essence. It could be within the main city of the Index, outside of town, underwater, in the air—anywhere! Now if only the keys didn't take their own through...interesting, winding routes. Like through a random bakery or down someone's chimney. Who knows, maybe they will want to come back and visit the stores for clothing and other housewares.
- A. Parade Panic. After all the hard work in preparing the floats for the parade, everything goes off without a hitch...at first. Around midway through the route, something strange happens—a burst of electricity flashes through the area and immediately after the floats either suddenly break down, the props and decorations malfunction, or the float runs completely off course. The runaway floats are the most worrisome as the driver has no control over the vehicle. Some drivers are even ejected from the controls! Help stop the floats before someone is injured. (Reference for the individual floats can be found on the Test Drive.)
- B. Festive Activities. Scattered throughout the Index are numerous games and activities that anyone is free to participate in. From standard carnival games like fairy ring toss and bobbing for golden apples, there are a few themed after the story worlds restored so far:
- Match the Pumpkin Head. Out in the fields, there are numerous scarecrows dressed as key characters from the various restored stories. However, they're currently missing their heads! The goal of the game is to not only find a pre-made pumpkin head in the neighboring pumpkin patch, but to also match it with the proper character. Fortunately there are some labels and clues to help those not familiar, and both the pumpkin and the scarecrow are obvious in designs. What makes it even trickier is that the scarecrows have a tendency to move around—they're still on the clock to shoo away pesky crows, after all!
- Present Delivery Dash. Using a special pumpkin carriage, teams of 1 to 2 people must race against each other to deliver the most presents down a specific route. Each team has access to an assortment of various "tricks" they can use to try and slow down their opponents, from gooey marshmallow sprays to expandable candy corn barricades.
- Bamboo Carver. With a special carving knife, participants must carve and create something with bamboo. They can use more than one and use other materials to fasten pieces together, but it must otherwise be made primarily of bamboo. However, some pixies decide to play a bit mischief and enchant the creations to come to life. Depending on what was made, these can be harmless or annoying. Either way, they must be collected before they escape the area!
- Underwater Treasure Hunt. Located in the nearby lake, the mermaids have dispersed various treasures along the floor. Hidden in clams, treasure chests, coral, and some even guarded by specially trained eel, participants will be granted the power to transform into a merfolk for 30 minutes and must collect as many treasures as they can. Once the time is up, they will lose their transformation and be encased in a protective bubble that will send them back up to the surface. Participants can work together or separately.
- Rose Maze. A classic for any festival, a special rose maze has been erected in one of the city's parks. However, the twist to this particular maze is that instead of dead ends, there are magic doors that participants must pass through. These doors will teleport individuals to another section of the maze that will either allow them to continue towards the exit or get even more lost.
- C. Food. Similar to the games, there is an assortment of food available throughout the city and some with a rather unique flair to them. The Flaming Pumpkin Spice in a Pumpkin Head glass will have anyone breathing ghostly fire for a few minutes. Some of the Christmas themed cookies will cause one to recall happy or sad memories, maybe perhaps a glimpse of the immediate future. Mystery Mooncakes have a random filling inside, some delicious others not so. Some other foods may cause random story themed effects, such as drifting to sleep, feeling generous, burst of bravery, have seaweed for hair.
- Special Tea Party. Near the Rose Maze an outdoor tea party has been set up for anyone to come sit down, relax, and have some tea either with friends or strangers. However, the tea will cause the drinker to be a bit more open and honest with those around them. Of course no one will be forced to say anything they don't wish to, but telling lies will be difficult.
However, some people might feel a little strange after eating some food. Symptoms are minor, from sudden fatigue to suddenly wanting to nap to upset stomachs.
¶ III. Party Crashers. There's always a fear that something will go wrong, or worse—the Story Eater might appear again. However, a more local threat has decided to try and ruin the festival. In addition to the mayhem alluded to in the Test Drive (Section II prompts), more problems are rearing their ugly heads as things escalate.- A. Mechanical Golems. From seemingly out of nowhere, strange mechanical creatures appear and disrupt the festival. These giant golems charge at the festival booths and scare innocent festival goers. Although none have shown to be aggressive towards people yet, several have started to throw things and it's only a matter of time before someone is hurt. As they are mechanical and large, they are going to need a bit of force and magic to be taken down. Water will work well against them, as well as overcharging them with lightning and electricity. If they are active too long, smoke starts to appear, suggesting that overheating them is another method. Just be careful—some might self destruct if not taken down properly.
- B. Lightning Storms. Weather can be an unpredictable thing in the Index, but the sudden lightning storms are highly unusual. Especially when the lightning bolts specifically target inanimate objects such as chairs, light posts, and even carriages and "shock" them to life, causing the object to go on a pranking spree. From throwing mud to tripping people to adding hot sauce to food to outright jumping out to scare hapless bystanders, they are becoming a menace! Unless someone is a master at weather manipulation, the only thing that can be done is to take cover, take down the moving objects, and help repair any damage.
- C. Pumpkin Chunkin Sabotage. Ever wondered what it would be like to build a catapult and launch a giant pumpkin with it? Teams are formed to quickly try and construct a workable catapult using bamboo and then fire a pumpkin as far as they can. However, things are not going as planned. No matter how well built the catapult, they keep turning towards the nearby buildings right as the pumpkins are launched. Even worse, some of the pumpkins used have also been tampered to become flaming pumpkins, which only increases the danger. Help douse the flames and figure out why the catapults are moving. (Answer: giant magnets are pulling the ones using any types of metal and can be found set along the roofs of buildings.)
¶ IV. Wildcard. Make up your own prompt! Especially in regards to the festival, anything can really happen.

Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd | Fire Emblem: Three Houses | Orihime
[Dimitri knew he was signing up to represent a character in an old story, but somehow, it didn't register with him that the story could be one that he wouldn't know. Though he may not have the look of a particularly studious man, he always was a good student! So heading to the library is a natural first step.
Alas, the robes he arrived in don't exactly lend themselves to climbing old, rusty ladders. It tangles around his feet a bit as he ascends, and Dimitri slams them down to ground himself on instinct. Predictably, the weak step gives out and sends him crashing down to the floor.
Or on top of anyone nearby.]
2-B4
[Dimitri is pathetically weak to heat, so it follows that he's quite fond of swimming. In this case, though, he finds himself just gazing out over the water with a perplexed frown.]
Are we supposed to undress first...? I doubt clothing like this is meant to be dunked in lake water.
[Not to mention how much it would tangle up his limbs! Is there a changing area? Wait, won't any pants he puts on fall right off his tail if he becomes a merman?! He'll have to be careful to get back to shore in time.]
C-1
[Even though Dimitri can't taste, he still gets hungry, and he does enjoy the aroma of tea. It's a nice chamomile blend that has him gravitating toward the tea party to settle down for a cup. If he had any idea about the additives in the tea he certainly wouldn't be doing this.
It starts taking effect quickly. Dimitri's natural, honest self is a man desperate for friendly connections, and he'll beam at the first person that passes him once the tea kicks in, standing to pull out a seat at his table.]
Hello, there! Would you join me?
Wildcard: as discussed
Its style is out of place compared to other residences in the city, and the symbol on the roof screams "Crest of Seiros" with its peacock feather shape.
And yet when she tries her key it doesn't work? Why won't it work? Maybe if she roughly jiggles the handle some...]

[But then he sees a familiar head of messy blond hair, and approaches for a better look to see if it's who he thinks it is, because he doesn't recognize the clothing. Then he's sure, and there's a small swell of relief in his chest.]
Boar--
[He barely gets the nickname out before a loud crack interrupts him and Dimitri is pitching down towards him. Felix instinctively braces, and smoothly catches Dimitri fully into his arms, one under his knees and the other across his back to hold the taller and heavier man to his chest. He staggers only slightly; otherwise, the catch is perfect.]
[He stares wide-eyed at Dimitri, astonished at his own response, face reddening slightly and fumbling with what to say, continuing to hold him because he forgets to put him down.]

[Minako grins and slides into the seat he offers, smoothing down her skirt. She's never been to a proper English tea party like this before-- or rather, the proper English tea parties she's read about in books and seen in movies-- so this is a little exciting.]
I'm Minako. Pleasure to meet you!
omg I missed this, so sorry!
Ren Amamiya | Persona 5 | Robin Hood
[After meeting Minato and gotten some decent practice, now was time to find his new home. He already has his key on him. Now was a matter of following this path, which seems to the scenic route. Oh well, he's used to having to travel a lot when he stayed in Tokyo for a full year.
If anyone wants to meet Ren on the way to his new house, there's plenty of time to do so.
[II-B3 - Bamboo Chaos]
[Although he was more of a fixer than arts and crafts, he knows how to work with a knife and not just fight with it. He starts making a small statue of a certain fairy-like creature using bamboo and whatever material he has to put it together, along with the wings and hair.
Once it's done however, this proves to be a mistake as it comes to life and starts causing trouble. Forcing Ren to go after it. Causing sparks at times. Help him out?]
II-C - Mr. Storyteller, I don't feel so good...
[Ren wasn't opposed to free food, especially since he's more of less starting at the bottom again.
He was trying out some food when he suddenly felt himself feeling sleepy. Trying not to panic he starts trying to leave and fight against the urge to sleep, but his movements are becoming more and more unsteady.
Gotta give credit that strong wildcard will power that he hasn't blacked out by now. But there's only so long he can fight the effects...]

Although, she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely without her brother or anyone else here from her world. Selfishly, a part of her did want them to come here so she could have someone whom she knew.
But that didn't matter right now. She needed a distraction! So here she is, with a key in hopes of finding a place of her own too! When Mabel saw a stranger with a key in his hands, she just had to go up and talk to him!]

Edelgard von Hresvelg | Hikoboshi
You should probably step away.
[If Edelgard meets your character at the beginning of the mayhem she'll probably start trying to 'shoo' or coax them away from the floats and nudge them along in a group with other people. If it is later into the chaos than it's more likely she's shoving people out of the way as floats are careening toward them. If your character refuses to move? Well, she'll just have to walk toward the float and stop it like some superhero cliche.
Which may just have a comical end to it with the contents of the float showering them both! Do they get covered in mooncake? Bonked on the head by mermaid pearls? Powdered with pixie dust? Or splashed with size changing 'special brew'?]
II: B-5 | Rose Maze
[With some signature bad luck Edelgard gets stuck in the Rose Maze for hours. Once someone catches up with her she's likely already at her wits end. So much so that one may find her trying to use her Shepherd's Crook to part the rose hedges...
Or even worse: trying to claw through them! In fact one may find her with little dignity left as she might even be happened upon with her top half in the bushes and her bottom half sticking unfortunately out...]
II: C | Food
[This is a choose your own! Edelgard happens to have a secret sweet tooth so she will definitely be hanging around the food picking at the deserts. Pick a "result" and I will reply with a starter to reflect that. Edelgard tries to wear a mask of stoicism so any exaggerated reaction forced from her via the food will send her reeling.]
IV: Wildcard
[If none of the options above grab you feel free to use this option! I'm always willing to figure something out over PM or Plurk and will whip up the starter if we agree on a scenario.]
B-5
[For a man who was instrumental in the successful strategies that kept the Kingdom of Faerghus safe in the absence of it's king (and the game's protagonist), Sylvain isn't doing very well at this maze. He has memorized everywhere he's gone thus far and he still managed to get utterly lost.
He'd be more embarrassed if he cared more about looking smart. Still, he is starting to get frustrated. He wants out of here!
He isn't too frustrated to be startled into laughter by the sight of a butt sticking out of the rosebushes. Sorry, Edelgard.]

Zidane Tribal | Final Fantasy IX | Aladdin
[The Library was vast and totally worthy of putting the likes of Daguerreo to shame. He's kinda curious what else there was in the library to read about besides the Stories, but he'll probably have a peek later. At the moment, he only knew the Essence name and Story he needed: One Thousand and One Nights, Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp.]
[Of course, he was busy staring at the ladder, eyes narrowing at the rust on it suggesting that maaaybe some staff had been inattentive. But they were also mostly birds so they wouldn't need the ladders - still, not awesome.]
[Eh... not like he hasn't fallen from a ladder or rope or anything before...]
[And that would be how others might find him in the library: a teenager with a tail climbing a creaking rusty ladder that probably couldn't bear his weight for an extended period of time, but on it anyway while he checked the shelves.]
[Option I-C]
[There's probably no point in complaining to the Storyteller that his character wasn't much, but really? And he gave up his daggers coming here for this? But okay, focus on the part of keeping Gaia safe; he could work with whatever role he was given then.]
[And as part of the role, he decided to give the ring on his finger a rub once outside of the Index. He doesn't know what to expect, but it's definitely not an Eidolon. It was Carbuncle which... made a lot of sense. Maybe it wasn't the Jinni he expected because he wasn't actually Aladdin?]
Huh... y'know, I don't feel as bad now. Up for helping me out when I need it here?
[He's no summoner, but he'll definitely take the happy chirp as a good sign. If someone happened to see him summon or interacting with the floating creature, that's fine. They weren't getting his ring though.]
[Option II-B:2]
[It's a race to deliver presents. Haha, this was so on!]
[If you're on his team, that's great - but if not... well, he's the one that wasn't afraid to use the fun traps provided to give them an edge.]
[Look out for the chocolate cherry bombs!]
Hehe~! Next drop off is ours!
[Option III-A]
Oi oi... Ya think I'll let you ruin people's fun like this?
[The Golems are annoying enemies, but nothing unfamiliar to deal with. He really disliked that they were trying to hamper everyone's fun though. He can't do much in terms of magic sure, but he may have used some sleight of hand to take a few assorted "tricks" from the Delivery Dash earlier.]
[If another character happened to be fighting one, a few candy tricks will hail down to hamper the golem before Zidane lands next to them, two daggers he wished from his Jinni in hand. He's armed and poised to fight, tail flicking.]
[Option Wildcard]
[OOC: Gotta prompt you'd rather do? Have a thread in TDM you wanna continue? This one's the option for you! Also, don't hesitate to add me on plurk:
I-A
Would to turn into a witch? Or be able to burn one? Who knows, she'll have to find out!

Dogo | The Lion Guard | Puss in Boots
[Dogo feels a little overwhelmed by the information that was just dumped on him. For one, he knew nothing about the story he's supposed to represent. He was given a set of boots, that are currently hanging off of his back as he searches for his new home.
But his family can't be that far away, can they? His mom could probably get all of this straightened out. He's walking through the streets of the city, trying to follow the key he was given. He stops to look for the rest of his family.]
Mom? Mom! I'm right here!
[He starts yipping loudly.]
B-1
[Dogo has no idea what he's supposed to be doing with these pumpkins with faces on them, but you'll find him rolling one down the street. Occasionally, he'll tackle and try to bite it. He seems to be playing with it.
Hopefully the scarecrow it belongs to is okay with bite marks, but it doesn't seem like Dogo has any intentions of returning it to its owner.]
C
[Whatever you're eating, you might find a small jackal pup carrying a pair of boots, giving you the sweetest look a little jackal can give. His tail is wagging happily and he's giving you a big smile.]
Boy, that smells soooo good!
[He whines a little, clutching his stomach dramatically.]
It's been so long since I've eaten anything here...

Helios | Sailor Moon | Merlin
1. flight of the pegasus
[(A continuation from the first prompt of the test drive.)
After Helios tries to practice some of his new magic with...varying success, he tries something he's a little more familiar with: transformation. According to the legends, Merlin is capable of transforming into many different types of animals. Although he knows he should try other forms, he can't help but want to try something familiar first. So after closing his eyes and concentrating, he's enveloped in a warm, golden white light. A flurry of feathers suddenly disperse with the light and a golden horned white pegasus stands in his place.
A feeling of joy spreads in his heart as he unfurls his wings, grateful that he can still do this since the loss of Elysion has hit him a little harder than he expected. In some celebration he leaps up into the air and flies around, using this an opportunity to get a birds eye view of the festivities taking place below.]
2. turtle trouble
[When not happily flying around as a pegasus, he will attempt other forms, starting with smaller creatures. After some success, while flying as a bird he accidentally transforms into a turtle while in mid-air.]
Look out!
[Even when in mortal peril he's still more concerned about accidentally hurting someone. Hopefully someone will catch him! Otherwise...well he'll manage. Probably.]
{ ii-b1. watch your head! }
Let's see I think...yes, I think this is the one!
[Unable to contain his excitement, Helios proudly holds up the pumpkin head that looks like a good match to a nearby scarecrow. The pumpkin has a queen's crown while the scarecrow is dressed in a patchwork red gown with paper hearts pinned to it. For some reason it's also holding a "bloody" (red paint) sickle, but he just assumes it's part of the decoration.]
Now we just need to put this back on...?
[His voice fades, however, when the scarecrow starts to jerk and move. Everyone had been warned that the scarecrows were still on "active duty" to protect the fields, so although startled at first, he's not too alarmed. He can always wait for it to finish its job first.
Unfortunately, that "job" seems to be him.
In the next few moments, those nearby may hear a startled yell before witnessing a young, white haired man in white wizardly robes tripping and running through the fields.]
W-wait, I'm not trying to harm your—ah! [Helios makes a desperate scramble to roll out of the way as the headless scarecrow makes a swing with its sickle. In the next instant, there's a white "poof" and Helios disappears. Only thing in its place is a trembling small rabbit doing its best to hide as the scarecrow prowls around. Others may need to watch out as the scarecrow likes to aim at necks.
Of course, Helios won't stay completely hidden. After he comes to his senses and realizes what happened he will...have difficulty returning to normal let alone casting any spells (that he's not great at yet to begin with), but he'll try his best to help! Said "help" will probably vary a bit.]
{ iii-c. put out those pumpkins! }
[After hearing the commotion happening at the Pumpkin Chunkin grounds, Helios quickly makes his way over to try and help. Seeing some of the flames spreading on the ground, he quickly raises his staff and tries to cast a few spells to douse them.
Water spells are effective! Unfortunately it takes the form of either a large bubble of water that bursts down or a small wave of water that crashes into everything around it. It's a small area, but anyone nearby will unfortunately get drenched.
Ice spells...are a bit of an overkill as well. In an attempt to stop the catapults from functioning as well as putting out any flaming pumpkins, he tries to freeze them in place. Unfortunately, while he's successful in turning them into popsicles, he also creates icy patches on the ground. There's also bit of a snow drifting in and out.
When not having issues with the spells, he'll try and help tend to anyone wounded.]
Here, allow me to heal you. I can only tend to small wounds, but this should be enough until you see a proper doctor.
[Instead of the staff, he places a hand over any injuries and a soft, warm golden light will flow out. As he said, minor burns, cuts, bruises, and scrapes will be healed completely. For anything more grievous, they will be healed a little bit and the pain reduced. At least with this he's more familiar and has better control and success.]

2. turtle trouble
[ Dojima was just minding his own business
obsessing over what Adachi could be up to right now, the bastard, that the suddenly yelling made him jump, his eyes darting left, right, up-- ]--Holy shit--!
[ Before reaching out on instinct and catching the poor turtle before he slammed into the ground. ]
Geez... Are you alright, little guy? Someone threw you...?
[ ...why was he getting that weird feeling he did when he met Mordred and Sylvain...? This was just a turtle someone tossed, right? ]

Xion | Kingdom Hearts | Baldr
[Xion had taken this opportunity as a chance to help, but also to find the missing Sora. Considering the circumstances it was very much possible he'd be here.
Upon arrival she had a very pretty white robe on her, which was weird considering how she had always worn black. But it seemed to come with her new essence.
Baldr. A god of light, among other things. She'd have to find a book to learn what this was all about since she had no idea. The only gods she knew were the ones on Olympus and she had mostly just heard stories.
Though it was crazy! A god. Wow
She however decides to ask about Sora.]
Excuse me. Have you seen a guy with brown spiky hair who goes by the name Sora? He's about this tall.
[She gestures somewhere above her head. Notably taller than her.]
I-A
[Xion can be found from the library to find the story she needs to read but it's on a top shelf and she's not the tallest person. She looks around.]
Excuse me... can you help me get a book from the top shelf?

[After reading about her essence she decides to test some things. Like using magic or summoning a keyblade at first just to be sure... Yep, not working.
Then she focuses and lo and behold it's a keyblade! Made of pure light. She swings it and accidentally sends a ball of light on its way.]
Watch out! I'm not sure what that does yet.
II-B-5
[It's the third time she appears somewhere different and definitely not to the exit. She sighs and turns around - again - to follow another path. How long was she going to be in this maze. Someone just help her find the right place or work together with her.]

Eugene Fitzherbert | Tangled | Magic Mirror (Snow White)
Writing to people through journals. I want to say that's the weirdest thing I've had to do, but there's an unfortunate large list of weird things, many of which I frankly don't want to think about.
Anyway, fellow...what are we called again? Aspects? Name's Eugene and I am apparently the Magic Mirror now. Honestly it's kind of cool, I can do a lot of interesting things. One of which is traveling through mirrors!
Which is a lot more fun when there aren't some mirror clones waiting on the other side trying to trap you and take your place.
(For the record, I checked. I think we're clear but if your reflection is acting really weird, let me know so I can
stay as far away from itmaybe help. Maybe. There better not be any or I'm filing a complaint.)So what I wanted to ask is something like a favor. Now, I know I can just wander around in this weird void and just randomly pop out somewhere, but I'd rather have some direction and try to fine tune this thing. See what all I can do with it, you know? Test the boundaries, see how far I can really go, if I can pass through without permission, or if I can be blocked somehow. So my simple request is if there are any volunteers willing to find a mirror and we play a fun, thrilling game of "How long will it take for Eugene to find you" and whatever other fun discoveries that may be had along the way.
And I can give you free tips on how to help your style if needed. However, I am a mirror, now, so... Might get that advice, anyway.
☸ ii-b2. present delivery
[He'll give either his teammate or opponent a challenging grin.]
Now I may not be well versed in driving pumpkin carriages, but how hard can it be? Just don't feel too bad when you lose.
[And if he's not the driver but a teammate, he's going to look through their various "tools" and puzzle over them a bit.]
Okay, I can understand using sticky taffy, but pie? [Takes a taste. Hmmm.] Wait—is this bubblegum!?
☸ iii-b. lightning reflection
[All right, sudden lightning that turn inanimate things to life is not great. He'll only manage to pull someone back right before one strikes the ground near them.]
Whoa, watch it!
[And then there is the one occasion where he might have acted a little too reflexively. When a lightning bolt suddenly targets a chair next to him, it's too fast for him to react excpet to hold up his arm to shield himself. Turns out this action and wishing he had a real shield is enough to trigger his ability to create exactly that: a mirror shield.
Thus the lightning bolt hits the shield instead, so good news nothing around him is hit. The bad news is the lightning bolt bounces off the shield and strikes the top of a nearby clock face attached to a building, causing the clock face to pry itself loose and roll around on the street below.]
...Really need to work on that.
[Anyway, time to help take care of the problem he caused!]

Princess Rosella | King's Quest | Artemis (Greek Mythology)
Which is how looking for books on her own Essence turns into just looking around for books in general, because a library that houses copies of every single story imaginable sounds like a challenge and you'd better believe Rosella is going to rise to the occasion.
If you're also in the Grand Library, you may encounter her:
A) Drawing some warning glares from the library aids for talking too loud in her enthusiasm. Nobody ever shushed her back home in the library at Castle Daventry! (The fact that she was the princess of said castle probably had something to do with that, BUT YOU KNOW.)
B) Way the hell up on the very top rung of a shelf ladder, reaching for a tome that's just slightly out of her reach, but still close enough that she's pretty sure she can get it with just the right set of archival acrobatics. Yes, this is the "meet Rosella by catching her after she bumblefucks off a ladder and into you, her hero's, waiting arms" prompt. Please rescue her in her time of peril!]
♔ FESTIVAL FUN: SPECIAL TEA PARTY
As it works out, the combination of Hones-Tea with reminiscing cookies leads to one rather chatty princess.]
I was swallowed by a whale once, you know! Not so very long ago, even — it was just before I agreed to come here. There I was, just swimming and minding my own business, when gulp! And that was that. It's hardly a pleasant experience, I must say! I wouldn't recommend it.

Rapunzel | Tangled | Amaterasu
[Rapunzel doesn't waste much time in getting to the library. She needs to learn about her essence, and besides- Books! She loves books. The princess has collected at least a dozen books at one of the library tables. No, they're not all about Amaterasu, but there are stories here that she'd never heard of!
When she sees someone else looking to take a seat, she puts her current read down and pulls out the chair next to her with a bright smile.]
Here! We have room.
[What makes it a "we" and not an "I" is the very green chameleon who looks around some of Rapunzel's gathered books to investigate the newcomer with a rather unnervingly stern gaze.]
B. Match the pumpkin head
Hey, wait!
[Rapunzel can be found running after a headless, seashell-adorned scarecrow. She's carrying a pumpkin head with seaweed for hair, and the weight of the gourd is making it tricky for her to keep up. Maybe help her out?]
C. Food
[Exploring and reading and reuniting scarecrows with their heads... All that activity works up one's appetite! She's got herself one of the Mystery Mooncakes, and takes an eager bite... But her chewing soon loses that gusto.]
Oh. I think there was an anchovy in there. Well, that's an- Interesting choice, that's for sure.
D. Rose maze (Locked to Eugene)
[When the activities are done, it's time to reunite with Eugene - and then drag him into more activities! Look, Rapunzel is all about this kind of thing. The rose maze is so beautiful, too, and she reaches for Eugene's hand when she spots it.]
Oh! What do you say, Eugene? Want to give it a go?

Kurt Frank | Identity V | Gulliver's Travels
[Perhaps it's easy to tell for longtime residents when someone here is new, if they see an unfamiliar face wandering around lost and appearing confused. However, rather than being confused or disturbed at the prospect of suddenly being transported to a new world, Kurt here looks like he's having fun, taking in the sights of this new place. He stops to stare in awe at anything that appears more technologically advanced to what he's used to, or taking out the journal to try to write notes about his exploration here.]
Fascinating... what a remarkable place this is...
[He seems eager to explore every street as much as possible... even when it starts to get late and he probably really should be looking for a place to rest by now...]
Underwater Treasure Hunt
[A lot of the other festivities were nice to observe, but this? Now this is right up his alley, and is exactly the sort of thing that he wants to partake in. What kind of an adventurer would he be otherwise if he turned down the opportunity to seek underwater treasure?
The turning into a merfolk part is a bit distracting, but thankfully he can focus on the task at hand since it's not like he can record anything in his journal about the experience right this minute. Instead, he reaches out to whoever is closest to him, pointing towards a spot a few feet further away under the water where they've been told to look.]
Come, dear friend, I've seen what appears to be more hidden this way. I'm sure we can collect the most treasure if we work together to gather them all!
Rose Maze
[As a seasoned explorer, it's only natural that one would want to prove themselves by tackling a maze and finding their way to the exit! And he certainly seems to be doing his best here, taking mental note of which paths he's already taken or even physically noting it by putting a marker for himself on whichever doors he's already used.
Even when he seems to have become lost for quite a while, he never wavers in his optimism here that he is going to find the exit here sooner or later. He does, however, eventually run into someone other than himself, and will stop momentarily to greet them.]
Hello, fellow explorer! Have you had any luck in getting closer to the exit here?
Food and Tea
[Kurt can be found relaxing after the previous festivities by partaking in the food here finally. In particular, he seems to have fancied the Mooncakes as he has a plate of them stacked in front of him to eat from, and is happy to share any with anyone who wants them. You're welcome to sit with him and try getting to know the new guy here if you want, perhaps over a nice cup of tea...]

Nanu | Pokemon | Cheshire cat
[ Yeah yeah, getting established, went to the library, read up on some stories and legends that weren't any he'd heard of before, made friends with his freaky furry floating journal before it winked out of existence not at all unlike how he was doing more and more frequently with his newfound powers. Nanu wasn't going to complain about that, for once.
He could complain about the new set of keys weighing heavy in his pocket for a house that wasn't his own and took ages to find. Once he did not far into the forest that bordered the Index he knew right away it was 'his'; gnarled and tangled between the branches and roots of a tree and looking as uninviting as possible. It was as if the whole structure grew into the tree instead of the other way around. The door itself wasn't even ground level which made him wonder how anyone other than him or someone who could float or fly or climb really good get up there. As soon as he wondered that he decided that he could retract that earlier complaint. He was never fond of guests.
Inside it was a deceptively different story with warm lights and wooden furniture, ladders creeping up into the higher open rooms of the house. This place would be a cat's paradise. In another room, he had a log-framed bed covered with soft, thick pelts. Tapus, he actually had his own bed. He didn't deserve this. Knowing himself, he was going to sleep on the couch anyway out of habit. It was a little overwhelming however and Nanu found himself gravitating (for some coincidental reason) instead to the ouside of his home and choosing to rest in an even seemingly less comfortable spot, wedged in the crook of the tree branches themselves.
By now Persian picked up on his scent and followed her nose but Nanu's newfound floating abilities left the trail cold around the border of the forest. She started to pace and yowl in frustration, marking trees with long drags of her claws and splintering bark in her wake. She was stubborn but much less liked being in an unfamiliar place despite her trainer's great trust in her. She would deign herself to asking the nearest traveler for 'help' finding her trainer and her home.
A large cougar-sized feline prowling up to you with an air of upset in the dark woods is probably not the most comforting thing to encounter. ]
2) Parade Panic
[ Of course things were going to go wrong with the floats because of course they were. It's the season for treat and tricks and mostly tricks, after all. As someone who's spent the majority of his life in the company of mischievous Pokemon, ghost and dark types alike, Nanu lives and breathes it all on a routine basis. He can deal with it. That said he's not immune to being on the wrong side of a trick. ]
2-A) Snapdragon flavor
[ The pixie dust that's turning some of the snapdragon flowers more snappy on the Midsummer's Rose float manage to snag a lock of Nanu's beautiful short silver hair as they pass by. He's pulled along side the float with a groan and finds it's a lot less painful to not resist. He can float in the air after all now, so that he does, getting dragged along by a growing number of chomping flowers. Mercifully they don't have teeth but unless he wants to risk some damage here he's miserably looking to someone in the crowd. ]
Look, I don't have a lot of hair left to lose so struggling isn't smart. Think you can do something?
2-B) Shrinking potion flavor
[ And perhaps on another day of tricks the Alice in Wonderland float ironically gets him next with the bouncing mushrooms. He's more on his game this time and gets a hold of the special brew that simmers the flapjacking fungi down but not without an accidental splash on his person, causing him to shrink down to the size of a mouse. Well. That's great. He suspects it'll wear off after a while but now he's thinking he could benefit from a bodyguard to keep him safe in the meantime while he's so small and squash-able. Nanu will pick the nearest most comfortable looking shoulder of any Aspect and float himself over and just sit down on it. He's right by their ear so he doesn't have to raise his voice much to all-too-casually announce his presence. ]
Hey. [That's it. Just 'Hey'. Congrats, tiny shoulder Nanu is your responsibility now. ]

1 S'up
His ears flicked back at the large cat's approach, crouched down and claws rested in the dirt where he'd been collecting a few things. Edible roots and the like, watching carefully and just- well. Maybe it could come in handy he could understand animals here, maybe not. Awkward as that made some of his hunting rounds.]
You lost?
[Talking to random animals easier than people, but there was that same bit of a huff, glancing around from where the flickering black energy of his 'visor' had flicked down already, blue eyes glowing faintly in the darkness.]

I'm now haunting you! In order for me to leave, you'll need to give me... your name!

If A:]
Hm... which sounds the best to try...? I don't know if I can do the monster hunts by myself...
[And if B:]
Now, where are these skeletons that are causing problems?
[And once she finds them, she'll be chasing them down, trying to knock of their hats. Luckily she has a moogle to do so, but even he can't chase them all down.]
Party Time
[While Serah will be doing EVERYTHING at the festival (so it's a wildcard too!), her biggest thing will be the pumpkin catapults to stop the flames from spreading. Now that she's got a bit of her essence down, flying while in her full armour will be a thing, and a Valkyrie has taken to the skies. No death yet, but she'd like to keep it that way!]
Please, you gotta help put out the fires!
[And with her request, she'll fly on to the next, or if you catch her attention she'll stop for you.]

Ken Amada | Persona 3 | Phobos
[Ken hate to admit it but he knew close to nothing about his Essence. As much as he was a good student, there was still a lot he didn't know about when it comes to folklore. After spending most of his time looking around at the bottom section of the library, it appeared he has no choice.
With that, he stared at the ladder for a moment before mumbling to himself.]
Do I have to? I should have known I would have to use it. [He didn't know if he was in the right place but if he had no choice but to use the ladder? Then he has to. Slowly, he walked up each step one at a time.
He just hoped his small stature would prevent it from breaking anytime soon!]
2. Rose Garden
[There was just something about this place that made Ken feel like a kid. While it wasn't a bad thing, it was something he wasn't familiar with. After all, he didn't know when was the last time he ran around through a maze garden without a care in the world.
Has it really been a month since he laughed so carefree?
Either way, that didn't stop him from opening doors left and right. The exit has got to be around here, he thought to himself! Of course, the moment he opened another door...?]
You're kidding me! Don't tell me I'm lost again! [So much for being carefree]
3. Pumpkins Galore!
[This wasn't going as well as Ken wanted it to be. He always seen people throw pumpkins with a catapult and wanted to do the same. However, he really should have known better.
How in the world did the pumpkins catch on fire? In fact, how the catapults are moving? He really needed to think of something here!]
Anyone got any water magic? We need to find out what's going on! [Which sucks as his own abilities are useless in this case]
4. Wildcard
[Surprise me!]
2. Rose Garden
Oh hey man, what's up?
[Because weren't you in the forest?]

Maron Kusakabe | KKJ | Astraea
[So this essence thing has powers and all, and she's read enough to figure some of it out— plus, she's from the normal world so... Greek myths and stuff. All right, she can work with that. While trying out her powers though, she's also trying to make something inbetween: a makeshift gymnastics ribbon. However, not just any, but one that will hold weight. Specifically her own.
Why? Don't ask, but if you do she'll probably give a non-answer as... well, her answer. Otherwise?]
Tell me if you feel anything if I heal you.
[Just gonna lead with that if she sees someone.]
Rose Maze
[How long has it been... since she started at the entrance of this place? How many years...?
Okay, maybe not that long, maybe only twenty or so minutes, but she's sure she's seen this same area at least four times now!]
Ugh... stupid maze... how's anyone supposed to get out of here if it keeps bringing me here?!
[Yeah, she's a little irritated at it. If she doesn't get out of here though, she's going to cry. Or... something!]
Carnival/Golems
[Carnivals are fun, right? Right! Sure, there's games and stuff, but she'll be hunting for one thing for the time being: a carousel. Once (or if) she finds it, she won't get on or anything, but she'll watch it.
Once she moves on, she'll be playing as many games as she can, getting competitive and challenging passerbys to a game. Why not make it fun and take her mind off of things?]
Hey! Yeah, you! You should compete with me, see who can get the big prize first!
[Once she's moved on and done most of everything? The golems attack. Maron will go on the defensive, healing anyone who needs it, and giving protection to those who cannot fight (or are helping others escape.]
You need to get out of here! I'll distract it— hey! Ugly! Over here!
[That's your cue to run or help!]
Wildcard
[Whatever your heart desires, she'll be around town before the festival, looking around and taking in where things are, finding her house... the sky is the limit.]
i-c
Okay, but doesn't that mean I should be injured first, so it's easier to tell if it worked?
