Chapter 03: Act I
The Little Mermaid: Act I—
§ instructions.
The first Act of our third campaign is underway! This is the designated log for all Main Scenes. Others are free to create their own toplevels for the Sub Quests, which are detailed below. Each Main Scene has their own unique toplevel and those cast into the roles are to thread their scene under each. All scene instructions are provided in the toplevels. There are also toplevels for each Sub Quest this time around, but players are more than welcome to create their own individual toplevel if they have something else in mind they would like to do.
As a reminder, characters will find similar information and instructions within their journals so they won't go in blind. Also to note, all characters will have all their belongings within them as well as the additional supplies provided to them by the Storyteller. As you know, everyone has undergone a special "mermaid" transformation upon arriving into the Book, but do note: characters in Main Scenes will have a second wardrobe change while acting the scene. Their merform will stay the same, but they'll have additional bits to add to their role. Outfits will be provided in the prompts themselves, and these outfits will only be in affect during the scene. The moment they leave the setting area, they return to their other wardrobe.
Finally, just to be clear, characters who are in Main Scenes are not immediately dropped in to their location and will have to travel to the "setting location" and then return. Threading all of that isn't necessary, but it's to help give a better idea that characters can take a break between scenes or wait a bit to help with other things like the Sub Quests.
Feel free to refer to the Game Notes for more detailed info as well as ask questions or clarifications.

People think pearls are pretty, right? So, maybe you're right... maybe I can use that to find it.
[He went back to looking through what was there, hoping Red would find pearls pretty enough to at least take a look.]
no subject
...Or was it the other way around...
[...Oh well. He'll do his best to try and find it, too, though, moving things around and feeling the walls in case there are any trick doors. But other than the door they entered, there's no other oyster. Big oyster...big oyster... Where could it be?
Answer: hanging above them.]
no subject
[Keith frowned a bit, still focused, but frustrated. Oysters weren't exactly pretty, though, so it wasn't going to draw his attention in that respect. But he did notice some barnacles and other clingy type creatures with the moss going up the walls. That definitely drew his attention upward just from Keith's own natural curiosity until...]
Oysters... there are a bunch attached to the ceiling. Maybe one of them has the pearl we need.
no subject
It's a pretty large cluster.
[Swimming right on up to poke one of the smaller half open ones, it immediately closes, but nothing dangerous seems to be happening.]
Big one...big one...big......... Oh. Hah, so it turns out all these small ones are covering the larger one. Give me a sec and I can pry its mouth open.
[Extends his hand out for a sword to appear. Got a big oyster, gotta use a big blade.]
It's facing down, so just be ready in case it falls out. ...Or would it just float since we're underwater?
[Well whatever, he's starting to pry it open!]
no subject
{Keith saw it now, buried under all those other little oysters. He moved into place, but looked doubtful.]
I thought you had to dig them out...
[For some reason, he vaguely remembered going to the aquarium with his dad as a kid, and doing the whole 'pearl from an oyster' thing where the person had to dig it out for him (they didn't want to give tiny Keith a knife, after all, due to liability reasons). But he was ready all the same... just in case it came loose..]
no subject
[And once Keith is in position, he'll start prying that oyster open!
Well.
That's all he really started to do before the oyster actually spits out the oyster right at Keith. Watch out, bro, that's like a mini cannon ball!]
no subject
He cringed.]
Oops.
[He ducked down to peer through the hole, trying to see where it went.]
no subject
You okay?
[Even without his essence he would have been concerned for the guy, but with his essence there had actually been a spike of panic. That's. Definitely something he could live without. Fortunately at most it just made him immediately move away from the oyster and swim towards him, but he managed to rein it in. So he's now at Keith's side, glancing up warily in case more pearls suddenly fire down at them before looking down towards the hole.
Good news, it went straight through the rest of the ship! And can be seen firmly embedded in some nearby coral.]
no subject
[Oh, hey... there it was. Thankfully, the pearl was big, so it was easy to see.]
There... let's go.
[Aaaand he was off again, heading for anything large enough for him to fit through and swim down there to get it. Sorry, Roku, but your essence's charge was a bit impulsive and tended not to wait for anyone else.]
no subject
Once they get to the pearl, he lets out a low whistle at the size before attempting to pry it out of its crater.]
Man, you were really lucky to avoid this. It's pretty heavy, too—might have to carry this together or find something to put it in.
no subject
[Since Rokurou was already working on prying it out...]
I can go look for one.
[He had no idea how they were going to put a pearl this big into a crown, but... whatever. It wasn't going on his head.]
no subject
There should be some nearby. I'll try and get this out.
[Of course his essence is being a worry wort, but Rokurou trusts Keith he'll be fine, so he'll continue to work on this pearl. It's stuck in there pretty good, but thanks to being able to pinpoint weak points, he's able to find where to maneuver the pearl. So by the time Keith returns, it will have been loosened enough so that they just have to push it onto the sail.
Yay for being underwater and lower gravity!]
no subject
Once it was on there, he tied the two ends in a way that would make a sling for the pearl that they could carry it between them.]
Ready?
[After all this, it would really stink if this was the wrong pearl, but... there'd only been one oyster this massive.]
no subject
Ready.
[And heave ho! Despite its size and true weight, it's really just it being generally cumbersome than heavy.]
Good thing we don't have to try to lug this over land, or this would really be a pain. Just let me know if you need a break.
[It's said with some genuine concern, but mostly joking a bit.]
no subject
Don't worry about me. But you let me know if you need a break, too.
[That might have been a rather smug and competitive sounding challenge...]
