Chapter 03: Act I

The Little Mermaid: Act I—

§ instructions.

The first Act of our third campaign is underway! This is the designated log for all Main Scenes. Others are free to create their own toplevels for the Sub Quests, which are detailed below. Each Main Scene has their own unique toplevel and those cast into the roles are to thread their scene under each. All scene instructions are provided in the toplevels. There are also toplevels for each Sub Quest this time around, but players are more than welcome to create their own individual toplevel if they have something else in mind they would like to do.

As a reminder, characters will find similar information and instructions within their journals so they won't go in blind. Also to note, all characters will have all their belongings within them as well as the additional supplies provided to them by the Storyteller. As you know, everyone has undergone a special "mermaid" transformation upon arriving into the Book, but do note: characters in Main Scenes will have a second wardrobe change while acting the scene. Their merform will stay the same, but they'll have additional bits to add to their role. Outfits will be provided in the prompts themselves, and these outfits will only be in affect during the scene. The moment they leave the setting area, they return to their other wardrobe.

Finally, just to be clear, characters who are in Main Scenes are not immediately dropped in to their location and will have to travel to the "setting location" and then return. Threading all of that isn't necessary, but it's to help give a better idea that characters can take a break between scenes or wait a bit to help with other things like the Sub Quests.

Feel free to refer to the Game Notes for more detailed info as well as ask questions or clarifications.

"Got it."

And with that decides, Shizuo repositions himself to better keep watch on the statues. They don't seem to move...but when he takes a moment to look towards that more distant third one, he notices something and quickly looks back.

Okay, that's just damn creepy. Did the eyes of that crab move? He swears it was different before...

But what neither of them may realize just yet is that there is yet another statue that neither have noticed. It's a smaller one, one shaped like an eel, and it's slowly making its way across the ground towards Roxas...
twilightskey: (Ah!)

While Shizuo focuses on keeping an eye on the statues, Roxas tends to cleaning the garden. There's a lot of mess to clean up, and the pile next to Roxas is slowly growing bigger and bigger with the piles of dead seaweed and garbage he's collecting. It's at least starting to look a little nicer, and some of the nearby fish are starting to explore the areas he's cleaned.

He's busy watching a brightly-coloured fish examine some broken pottery, so he doesn't notice the eel-shaped statue approaching. But he does notice it when it suddenly bites at his tail.

"Aah!!"

What the—

"Roxas!?"

Shizuo immediately turns around to see what looks like one of the stone statues...biting Roxas's tail???

"Shit—!" Just a swear before he lunges towards the chunk of rock, grabbing at it but surprised by how it actually moves like an eel. Not as smooth as the real thing, but it actually wriggles and squirms before trying to attack him.

In the end he manages to fling it off to the side a fair distance, sand erupting from where it lands. But he only looks for a moment before turning back to Roxas.

"Hey, you all right?" Did it injure his tail too badly?

...Unfortunately because Shizuo has taken his attention away, the other statues are now making their way towards them.
twilightskey: (Get ready!)

Roxas flails his tail a bit, and with Shizuo’s help the stone eel is pulled off. He hisses in pain and examines his tail, wincing at the bite mark.

“I’m fine, but those teeth are sharp.” He looks up, and has to jump back since one of the stone statues is now right in front of him.

“Woah! They ARE moving!”

T'ch, that bite does look bad... It should be tended to, but it looks like they won't get a chance. Just as Roxas shouts, the swordfish suddenly lunges at them. He's able to swim out of the way just before the spear-like nose pierces the very spot he had been.

"Shit—!"

With the others moving in, he's going to do what no sane person would try to do—grab the very thing that tried to skewer him just moments before. It helps that the nose is embedded in the ground, allowing him to just grab it, lift, and then just whirl around once before sending it flying to one of the statues.
twilightskey: (Come and get me!)

[personal profile] twilightskey 2019-07-29 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The bite on his tail is going to have to wait, as Roxas has to dart away as the crab from before tries to snap at him. He only just manages to avoid the crab before he ducks away from the thrown swordfish statue.

"Whoah!" Roxas glares at the statues, then holds out his hands and sings a quick note. The water condenses around his hands and almost seems to crystallize into the shapes of his Keyblades; he'd marvel at it if he had time to.

"Come on, before they try to attack again!"
hatesviolence: (☣ no time for goodbye)

[personal profile] hatesviolence 2019-07-30 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Shizuo doesn't respond, instead already darting in with a yell towards the felled statues. They may have been knocked over, but they were still moving—or at least one of them was.

But even as electricity sparks around him, his fists can only do so much. If only he had a wep—

"—The hell??"

As if answering his wish, black shadows and lightning gather around his hand to form—a giant rusty anchor.

........Uh. Since when could he—???

No time to ponder. Although fractured more, that swordfish statue is making another beeline towards him and he has to swim away to avoid it first.
twilightskey: (You can't stop me!)

[personal profile] twilightskey 2019-07-31 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Could Shizuo always make an anchor? Roxas doesn't know, but will have to wait until later to ask about it.

While the swordfish statue swims passed Shizuo, Roxas takes a swing at it, letting out a cry as he swings his blades at the statue. The impact isn't enough to shatter the statue, but his swing causes a sizable chunk to crumble off.

As the swordfish regroups, Roxas turns back to Shizuo, spotting movement behind him.

"Look out!"
hatesviolence: (☣ break away from everything)

[personal profile] hatesviolence 2019-08-01 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
This whole sudden anchor thing is really throwing him off, but he manages to straighten out in time to catch Roxas's hit to the statue before the shout. Quickly he looks back to see the third statue—a merlion?? Whatever it is, the only thing he can do is raise up the anchor like a shield and brace his feet into the—

Shit, this isn't on land! And he doesn't have feet! His instinctive reaction is to just brace himself and block the attack, but because of the changed circumstances, all that does is send him flying back. With the merlion's gaping stone jaws clanging against the anchor, Shizuo thrashes his tail as he tries to push the damn thing off. It's only thanks to this inhuman strength that he wasn't immediately crushed.
twilightskey: (My heart belongs to me!)

[personal profile] twilightskey 2019-08-02 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Shizuo!"

Roxas surges forward as fast as his tail can carry him, and once he gets close enough he swings at the merlion with all his might. His water-blades slam against the stone, managing to break off a chunk of stone off of the attacking statue.

"Get off of him!"
hatesviolence: (☣ i need to move)

[personal profile] hatesviolence 2019-08-03 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
With Roxas's assistnace, Shizuo is able to slam his tail up against the statue. Although not enough to push it off, the swing combined with Roxas's attack is enough to stun it and allow him to do a forceful shove forward with the anchor. So with a loud yell he sends the heavy weight off to the side before pushing himself up off the ground.

T'ch. Fighting underwater is definitely annoying.

"Thanks," he quickly says with some heavy breaths during the brief respite they have as the merlion writhes on the sand, a part of its tail and leg now broken as well.
twilightskey: (Come on!)

[personal profile] twilightskey 2019-08-06 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't mention it." He sends a quick nod to Shizuo, before turning to face the statues. While the merlion was writhing on the sand, the eel and crab statues were advancing.

"What do we do? Do we attack them?" He's down for a fight, but will that help their task??
hatesviolence: (☣ i need to fight)

[personal profile] hatesviolence 2019-08-08 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't know what else we can do. If we leave 'em alone they might try and attack others or destroy the garden."

In a way it's a shame to destroy works of art, but he isn't even sure if these are real statues, Erasers, blots, or what. And with how careless the statues are moving, tearing through the ground not caring what's around them, soon the hard work will be ruined.
twilightskey: (Over here!)

[personal profile] twilightskey 2019-08-08 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Roxas frowned, looking at the status once more. It was a shame to destroy them, but they would make their tasks harder. He twirled one of his Keyblades in his hand.

"Then let's take them out as quick as we can!" And with that, he pumped his tail and darted forward, swinging at the statues with a yell.
hatesviolence: (☣ control myself)

[personal profile] hatesviolence 2019-08-10 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Shizuo only nodded before hefting the rusted anchor in his hand, easily lifting it before he charged in a slightly different direction to take care of the other statues. He swung the large above without any reserve, the steel, rusted as it is, more than enough to smash and cleave the statue he faced. Even as a second scored his tail, he just spun slam his fist into it, crushing the stone as if it were made of clay to make part of its head crumble.
