Chapter 03: Act I
The Little Mermaid: Act I—
§ instructions.
The first Act of our third campaign is underway! This is the designated log for all Main Scenes. Others are free to create their own toplevels for the Sub Quests, which are detailed below. Each Main Scene has their own unique toplevel and those cast into the roles are to thread their scene under each. All scene instructions are provided in the toplevels. There are also toplevels for each Sub Quest this time around, but players are more than welcome to create their own individual toplevel if they have something else in mind they would like to do.
As a reminder, characters will find similar information and instructions within their journals so they won't go in blind. Also to note, all characters will have all their belongings within them as well as the additional supplies provided to them by the Storyteller. As you know, everyone has undergone a special "mermaid" transformation upon arriving into the Book, but do note: characters in Main Scenes will have a second wardrobe change while acting the scene. Their merform will stay the same, but they'll have additional bits to add to their role. Outfits will be provided in the prompts themselves, and these outfits will only be in affect during the scene. The moment they leave the setting area, they return to their other wardrobe.
Finally, just to be clear, characters who are in Main Scenes are not immediately dropped in to their location and will have to travel to the "setting location" and then return. Threading all of that isn't necessary, but it's to help give a better idea that characters can take a break between scenes or wait a bit to help with other things like the Sub Quests.
Feel free to refer to the Game Notes for more detailed info as well as ask questions or clarifications.

"Thanks, Roxas-kun... I was gonna ask how you've been doing."
See? Small talk. Absolutely not loaded at all small talk that won't make either of them nervous.

He's glad to have helped her! Her question does make him pause, his tail flicking in the water.
"I'm... alright. It feels a bit weird being here, but it's alright."
no subject
This IS his essence story, after all... She doesn't think any of them had ever traveled into a story belonging to another essence before, not that she knows of, so... how is this affecting him.
no subject
That being, a sense of belonging, a sense of home. But he frowns despite himself.
"But... if I'm being honest, I'm a little scared to be here."
no subject
Her fingers gently, unconsciously squeeze his. "Do you want to talk about it...?"
no subject
"I'm just... a little worried about how this story might end. And what that means for me. I mean... this is my Essence's story, right?"
no subject
"Yeah, it is... But... I don't think the story will FORCE us to make it end like that, right? I mean... you weren't chosen to be the little mermaid for any of the scenes this time. And the way Rokurou-san and the others finished the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, Kaguya-hime got to stay on Earth. And in my world, there's a newer version where the prince DOES fall in love with the little mermaid, and they get to marry. So... who knows what could happen."
It's not like the setting or the essence bound to Roxas's soul would steer them towards the original ending, real death and all... right?
no subject
It's something that plagues his mind, even though he perks up when Kotori mentions the alternate version of the Little Mermaid.
"Dojima said something similar. I want to be able to give the Little Mermaid a happy ending, but..."
But a part of him is still worried.
no subject
"Then... I think we should work towards that. The Emperor chose to protect Kaguya-hime even though the army of the moon was coming, and Rokurou chose to make her stand her ground and fight for our freedom. We can change things for the better if we try, Roxas. The others will help too, if they know this is what you want."
no subject
But Dojima had said he would work to make this story end happily, and now so was Kotori. And now that worries weren't clouding his thoughts, he knew that Kotori was right; he could easily ask the others for help in rewriting the story to something happier, for everyone. He smiled, relief settling on his face.
"Thank you, Kotori. I don't know what'll happen to my Essence if we change the story, but with you and everyone else working towards it... let's make this a happy ending."
no subject
"That's the spirit... I'll do everything I can to help, Roxas-kun."
no subject
He says it in a genuine voice, gratitude clear in his expression. Kotori really had been very understanding and kind... and her promise to help him only made the happiness he felt grow stronger. That strange, warm feeling bloomed in his chest again, and though he didn't have a word for it or fully understand it, it made the smile on his face grow warmer.

"Any time..."
Stiiiiiill hasn't let go of his hands, though, she might need a reminder.
no subject
"Oh, uh... do you still need help balancing in the water?"
1/2
"Eep!" Kotori JUST means to let go and swim back an inch or too, but she's too flustered and her tail is REALLY powerful, so she accidentally bumps back-first into a pillar a few feet away. At least it's marble and not coral...
2/2
Kotori pls...
no subject
"C'mon. I'll show you how to not push off like that."
no subject
"Thanks, Roxas-kun..."
