The Little Mermaid: Act I—

The first Act of our third campaign is underway! This is the designated log for all Main Scenes. Others are free to create their own toplevels for the Sub Quests, which are detailed below. Each Main Scene has their own unique toplevel and those cast into the roles are to thread their scene under each. All scene instructions are provided in the toplevels. There are also toplevels for each Sub Quest this time around, but players are more than welcome to create their own individual toplevel if they have something else in mind they would like to do.

As a reminder, characters will find similar information and instructions within their journals so they won't go in blind. Also to note, all characters will have all their belongings within them as well as the additional supplies provided to them by the Storyteller. As you know, everyone has undergone a special "mermaid" transformation upon arriving into the Book, but do note: characters in Main Scenes will have a second wardrobe change while acting the scene. Their merform will stay the same, but they'll have additional bits to add to their role. Outfits will be provided in the prompts themselves, and these outfits will only be in affect during the scene. The moment they leave the setting area, they return to their other wardrobe.

Finally, just to be clear, characters who are in Main Scenes are not immediately dropped in to their location and will have to travel to the "setting location" and then return. Threading all of that isn't necessary, but it's to help give a better idea that characters can take a break between scenes or wait a bit to help with other things like the Sub Quests.

[What the..?? Red XIII was certainly not expecting a giant lizard like this to simply dive in and attack the swans like a hungry alligator. But as shocked as Rex XIII was, he was quick to identify the situation for what it was; a distraction.]

[So while the swans were busy dealing with the giant lizard who had so rudely interrupted their quiet time, Red XIII sprints ahead, using the confusion and chaos to his advantage as he runs to the oyster.]

[All Godzilla wanted was to take a long nap, not suddenly get turned into a giant sea turtle. So of course he's in a foul mood, especially when he's been downsized and can't use his atomic breath for some reason. Though he may not know what's going on, he could at least tell these swans were not part of the natural world. So he's content with taking out his anger on these fake birds. A few of the more cockier ones tried to lift him out of the water by his shell. They succeed somewhat, only for Godzilla to just tilt to one side and smush them against the nearest hard surface.

Having been set free, he chooses to dive back under the water. The swans hover around the area, a few daring to dive down into the water to pursue him.]

[Red XIII is not familiar with the large, sea turtle-like being, but he is not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. He's almost reminded of the Weapons, or even of the Midgar Zolom, but he doesn't linger on those thoughts for long.]

[He doesn't take long to get to the oyster, and with a bit of digging and tugging with his fangs, he finally pulls the pearl free. The object safely in his teeth, Red makes to flee the swans's nest. However, a few seem to have realized he was there, and begin honking and flapping towards him.]

[Red is going to have to fend himself for a bit. Godzilla is still submerged underwater, dealing with his own set of birds. He wasn't at full power, but it won't stop him from trying to fire his atomic breath at them. From above, it looks like a light show, as the pattern on his shell glows blue, pulsating. Nothing comes of it though, other then a few balls of light. Those puffs of light can still cause some serious damage though, burning whatever it makes contact with.

Maybe a few stray shots might catch a few harassing Red at the surface, or he may be unlucky getting caught in one.]

[Red has no problem fending for himself. He can't snap at the birds as he likes, but he does bob and weave around them, much to their ire. They honk and flap their wings in an attempt to stop him, but it's around then that those strange puffs of light appear from beneath the surface. One hits a blot-bird, making it squawk and burst into ink on contact.]

[The other birds hastily take wing to avoid getting hit, but Red isn't fortunate enough to have wings. He narrowly misses being caught in one of the blasts, but he feels the heat from one, feeling his fur get uncomfortably warm. Too close for his comfort, but at least he can make a break for the exit.]

[As Red makes his escape, he could probably hear or see the loud splash as Godzilla resurfaces nearby, his maw covered in a mixture of water and ink. What few swans that manage to resurface don't come up unscathed. They were missing wings, had bite marks, or burns. Meanwhile the giant lizard didn't seem to have suffer any serious injuries. These birds may be large, but they were just pesky nibblers to him.

He snarls at his prey as he charges forward to finish the job. These anomalies should not be left to live, that's what his instincts were telling him. Whether he intended it or not, the carnage he creates is enough to get the remaining swans on Red off of him to deal with the much bigger threat, giving him a window to flee.]

[He hears the splash, and can only glance back briefly as he notices the large lizard-beast lunging at the swans. The attack definitely helps distract the swans, and in the ensuing commotion Red is able to make a hasty getaway, pearl in tow.]

[He hadn't planned on such a turn of events, but he certainly isn't complaining.]
