» A: SIDE STORY - III-A. CLIMBING THE TOWER «
[At the bottom of the tower of ever changing and shifting beds, Rokurou has the driest look imaginable. Who can blame him when he was cast as the princess and forced to wear a bulky dress. At least he was spared and was wearing his boots and pants underneath BUT THIS IS NOT HOW THE HUNTSMAN WANTS TO PLAY IN THIS.]

Would it ruin the story if I just ripped this skirt off? There's no way I'll be able to climb with all this.

[How do girls who are capable of fighting in dresses and skirts able to do this... Newfound respect, man.

ANYWAY.

Just going to. Sigh as he stares up, the set of beds closest to him and whoever who happens to be with him already moving around.]

But guess should get started while we can. This is going to take a while...

» B: SIDE STORY - I-C3. FIGHT THE WITCH «

[Although he's been here before, on answering a return call Rokurou now finds himself as Gretel, and after dealing with being a Princess in the other story? His immediate reaction was, "Oh, come on!" This seemed to be his fate right now, apparently.

But he just deals with it, especially when he apparently gets set to do one of the more interesting scenes of this story. He may not have his swords due to the casting, but this is a kitchen. And there are knives. And he already has his hands on one and is just. Idly twirling it around.]

So I know the story is about the witch getting tossed into the oven, but how about we make it more interesting?

[Whoever is playing the witch, please say now. Granted he's only half-serious about this to begin with. Half. Less serious if he doesn't know the person who is playing the witch, more serious if he does and knows they can fight.]

» C: SIDE STORY - II-5. FISHING FOR THE GREAT BLACK ERASER «

[He'll help out with some other parts of the story (chasing whoever is playing the Gingerbread Man does sound pretty fun), but he's way more interesting in taking out any of the Erasers lurking in the lake. So whoever is with him, he grins as he starts to get the boat ready.]

It's too bad we can't keep it as a trophy after we kill it. Would make for a pretty good story later.

[Just wait until the story about the white whale, man.]

» D: OUT HUNTING + WILDCARD «
[Mostly a wildcard. Given the season and lack of anything else to do aside from helping with the stories, Rokurou will be out in the woods working on his hunting skills, both the practical and anything that might be evolved to something more powerful later. Shooting practice is also a thing, so anyone going through and happen to be near his place may hear a ring of gunshots as he works on his targets. There will also be a number of traps set out in various places—mostly for small game like pits, boxes, and nets, so nothing too dangerous. Bear traps will come later. Some are easy to spot, but others are a lot trickier, especially with all the snow. But if someone gets caught—well give a holler and Rokurou will come and set them free.

But if you have any other ideas or want to plot, just hit me up on Discord or laenavesse.]

Oh yeah? What's the story? [Said in a voice that clearly doesn't believe him, but still interested all the same.]

So, about three hundred years before we met, there was a fish known as the Curtiss Spearfish. Huge massive thing, almost as long as I am tall and heavier than Stormquell and Stormhowl combined. Now, this was before I met Aifread and before I was set on keeping Edna safe so I was still near our mountain, though I knew I wasn't going to be there much longer. I wanted to get Edna one last cool thing to maybe make my departure less miserable for her, so I went down to the ocean about two days away to see what I could fish up.

[He's on a roll now, Rokurou.]

I was expecting some small fry, maybe some cool driftwood, probably some poor guy's swimsuit. And sure enough, I got a lot of that. But.

[He pauses for effect.]

[Well he's got Rokurou hooked into listening at least. And after seeing what they've fished up before in the past—yeah he'd believe something weird will come up, especially with his "luck."

Anyway, he sees that little "cliffhanger" and with a slight roll of his eyes and a grin, he plays along]

The swimsuit I'd just snagged was apparently what this spearfish wanted because it would not let go. I nearly lost my pole to the bastard, but I got 'im and Edna made sashimi for days. I'm serious, Rokurou, this thing was huge. Not even you could have eaten all the sashimi.

[ This story only needs a single person to take part in it but Velvet had tagged along with Rokurou on it anyway. Mainly to see what all the fuss was about. So while he ended up in the dress, she's just acting as a spectator or assistant. Though she can't keep the smirk off her face at the sight of a big, burly man squeezed into a dress. ]

You're honestly going to ask me that? [ This is her first "story". ] You could just tie it so it's out of the way. That would make climbing easier and you wouldn't have to risk ruining the story.

[ All she's hoping for is that he has something on under those skirts. ]

Either way, it's better to deal with the skirt now than find out while hanging from the side of a mattress trying to get your feet in position.

All of those weapons and you don't have any of them? [ It's weird to see him with barely any weapons - something that hasn't happened since they first met. A casual shrug. ] Obviously someone knew you were the better choice for the role of princess.

Sometimes that happens, or at least it did to a few people when we went into the last story. Their weapons disappeared, so guessing that's what happened to me. [He better get them back is what his face clearly says as he makes the final cuts and just looks at her.

Yeah, he actually is going to just throw the fabric and tool at her face.]

Better play the role of "bodyguard," then.

I guess a princess doesn't carry around sharp weapons in these fairytales. Makes me glad I have other weapons at my disposal. [ Who would they even see about getting Rokurou's blades back if they don't return automatically?

[Yeah. This is what she's going to have to deal with. He's still not happy with the arrangement, but what can he do.

[ Not only does Velvet not protest the word "friend" but she also uses it herself. No matter what roles they have, they have to get through this.

At his question, she eyes the mattresses drifting about. ]

We climb where we can and jump when necessary. For everything else, we'll have to figure it out on the way. [ With a hand, she motions to the one above them. ] Give me a boost. Maybe my weight will drag it back down.

He follows her gaze and can't see anything wrong with the idea.]

[A grin as he gets in position before crouching down a little, hands folded so she can step on for that boost.]

Absolutely nothing is going to go wrong with this. They can handle this little dilemma, no problem. ]

We've both jumped from heights that would have killed a human before. A mattress will be a much softer landing.

[ But time to really get this show on the road. Velvet places one foot in his grip and a hand on his shoulder to prevent losing her balance when he lifts her. Her left hand is the one reaching for the mattress above them. ]

[Just hoisting her up and...keeping eyes straight forward.]

[ Her fingers do barely manage to catch the fabric of the mattress. Any further away and she would have had to activate her daemon arm. Thank goodness she isn't wearing a dress. Or maybe that's a bad thing. ]

Yes, don't let go yet. [ With that, Velvet tugs. Hard. The mattress is dragged back towards them until it's now within Rokurou's reach. ]

Climb on. [ Getting Rokurou on first means she'll be hanging but this is about getting him to the top - not her. ]

[He's kind of wobbling a bit, taking a step or two to try and balance out Velvet's attempts to reach the mattress. But when he glances up to see the mattress in reach, he then looks up even further at her in surprise.]

Wouldn't it be easier to push you up there first and then you pull me up?
