Summary: A wolf has returned and wanders around to check how things may have changed - or perhaps how they haven't.

A - No use in hidin'

[ Once again Velvet finds herself in a different world, the same one as before. That much is obvious as she can just feel the wolf ears perched on the top of her head brushing against the hood of her cloak. Her tail is hidden in the massive blackness that is her hair so she isn't particularly worried about it being seen. Before her stands the Index, an odd mix of buildings that could only come from a fairytale. She sighs heavily but with resignation, checks her gear to ensure that the blade she had picked up last time is still with her before taking a step forward. ]

Time to go see what's changed, if anything.

B - Oh, you're never gonna find escape

[ Seeing as how her journal, medallion and key all appear to be the same Velvet doesn't bother searching for her house here. Even though she knows she's been gone at least a few months, chances are the stone building will be in the same place. It may even be dust-free. Or that could just be her hopeful thinking. As much as the daemon-turned-wolf enjoyed a good cleaning, Velvet isn't up for it at the moment. Tonight she'll either rough it out in the woods (it wouldn't be the first time), or crash at someone else's place if her own magically granted house is dirty.

What she can't ignore is the unending hunger that haunts her even here. Was it too much to ask that her bottomless pit of a stomach didn't transfer over into this new world? Apparently.

Rather than pay for a meal in town, Velvet heads out to the woods to do her own hunting. Not as a wolf because that's a bit dangerous to do without knowing who's around hunting them at this point. She has plenty of experience hunting as a regular human so it doesn't take long for her to catch a meal, skin it and start a fire to cook it over.

Should anyone happen upon her at her campsite, they'll find Velvet cleaning the blood from her blade as she sits by the fire. To most it may appear that a whole wild pig on the spit would be more than enough to feed a single person. Truthfully, she could eat that and more without ever feeling sastifyingly full.

All the same Velvet will gesture to a fallen log on the opposite side of the fire. ]

Care for a bite?

C - When the wolves come out to play! [Closed to Rokurou & Eizen]

[ Eventually Velvet goes to seek out the two people who she knew had been here the last time she'd been in this world. Her feet remember the way to their homes (or where their homes used to be, if they'd left) - not that the wolf gets lost in the woods. The first stop is Eizen's. His house appears in the trees and a small part in her eases a bit. Hopefully the man is still actually here and the house wasn't simply left to stand after his departure. Upon getting close, Velvet steps up to the door where she lifts a hand to knock loudly. ]

I'm giving it to the count of ten before I let myself in. [ It certainly smells as though Eizen has been in the structure recently. Whether he's actually home right now is a different story. ]

[ Visiting Rokurou's cabin is potentially more dangerous so Velvet is on-guard long before moving anywhere in his direction. Last time he'd attacked simply because there was a wolf nearby and she'd be pissed if he managed to accidentally hurt her because the damn Huntsman sensed danger. Chances are good that Rokurou will know when she enters his territory (or he comes home - whichever it may be) so Velvet doesn't bother heading to the front door. Instead she chooses to drop into one of the chairs on his porch and wait for him to come to her. Velvet doesn't even need to look to know when a familiar presence makes an appearance. ]

Hopefully you're still ridiculously stocked up on meat or I might attempt to eat you instead. [ Having had "dinner" earlier means nothing to this bottomless pit of a wolf. ]

Nah, it's just her Essence's ability. Can shrink others, too, and man is it weird.

[Speaking from experience. But now he's going to get a bit animated.]

But it's actually kind of cool. Turns out that we have similar cultural heritage. She's from Japan, my ancestors from Japon, and though the dialect is a little different, we can talk and understand our native language.

[So...yeah he's kind of excited about his twin from another world.]

I do not want to find out what it's like to be shrunk.

[ A fair warning. While he gets all worked up, Velvet will continue eating her meal and finishing off the plate. ]

So she's from another world where they have a place similiar to ours or she's from our world in some different era and comes from the same place?

[ Both could be possible, right? ]

Think it's more of the former. Similar place and culture, but they didn't have Empyreans or other things from ours, and same for her world.

[He's pretty much done, so all that's left is the beer.]

Still,it's pretty cool. Actually I should try and see if it's true for Kotori, too... She's not a fighter so I didn't think about it, but, hmm.

[Yes. The only reason why he bothered to learn about Musashi was because she was a fellow swordsman. This guy and his dumb priorities.]

I'll take your word for it considering I know almost nothing about Japon or Japan.

[ She gets up from the table, taking both of their plates over to the sink in order to wash and clean up. Velvet had been cleaning when she was done with using kitchenware while cooking so there's not a lot left. ]

You could ask around to see who else might be from this Japan or might have heard about it.

[ So far the three of them are from the same world but who knows how many other worlds are represented here. ]

Maybe... But I'm not that invested in it, either.

[Ie, definitely still only interested if it involves swords.

Seeing her take their plates and starting to clean up, Rokurou takes one last sip of his beer before standing to follow.]

Need some help?

[He at least has some manners! Well it's also his place, so. Only right.]

You're not interested in hearing about different versions of your land?

[ Maybe it does involve swords.

She tosses a towel at him, knowing that he'll catch it. ]

I wash, you dry.

[ Cleaning up will go much faster with two. Then they can just relax. ]

So nothing else happened while I was gone? Just the ending of the Kaguya story and your barbeque?

I mean I've never been there personally, just know what I've heard and taught growing up, so I wouldn't really be able to relate too much. I am planning to travel there, but costs a fair bit so it'll be a while.

[And he does indeed catch the towel, stationing himself next to her so that he can take whatever she washes to dry.]

As for what else... Ha ha... [Just a dry a laugh as he recalls.] You remember Hyde? Not sure if you met Disciple before, but that's his essence. He caused a bit of disturbance earlier and got a bit banged up when I fought him. I won, though. [Clearly most important.] Otherwise not much else. Usual things, small stories to help, a bunch of new people showing up.

Why not hire a group of familiar pirates? I'm sure they wouldn't mind giving you a lift.

[ Wash-a-wash before passing off the dishes to Rokurou. ]

Not really. [ The only two people Velvet met were people she already knew. ] Sounds like you had a fun time, at least.

Yeeeeah, they're too busy doing their own thing. Plus they were charging way more. Pirates. Still might work something out with them if the mercenary gig doesn't pan out. [ie, he already asked.

Drying drying and setting back in the cabinet.]

It let me try out some new skills. I can produce my blades out of thin air now.

I guess after all the trouble we put them through, they've had enough of hanging out with daemons for a while. Or maybe they just didn't want you drinking all of their alcohol.

[ She can't really blame them no matter the reason. ]

Why do I get the feeling that you use it to store even more blades?

Probably both. [And he...may have messed with them a bit since they couldn't see Eizen and Eizen couldn't really tell them otherwise ha ha ha ha.]

I can hold up to two, but I can interchange which ones are in and out. Hoping I'll be able to develop it to take on even more.

[So. Yes. Yes he will.]

Wouldn't surprise me at all. [ Those pirates could put up with a lot but even they have to draw a line somewhere. ]

So technically you could have at least six blades on you at any time. You do realize that you only have two hands to use those blades, right?

[ Dear Empyreans he's a walking arsenal. Worse than Velvet. ]

Yeah, so?

[Just a grin.]

I can still handle them all if I ever need to use more than two. Already coming up with some new artes to utilize it.

[ A huge sigh. ]

Of course you are. Just so you know, if you someday become able to wield more blades then you have body parts, I'm never duelling with you.

Oh c'mon, it would be fun!

[Of course he would think that.]

Absolutely not. Get your other sword buddy to spar with you then.

[ There, the last dish. She takes a wet rag to wipe down the counter and table while Rokurou dries that final plate. ]

What, don't think you'd be able to handle it?

[Just a challenging grin as he dries down the last plate and puts it back. He'll also dry off the counter while he's there and then set it aside before leaning against it.]

No, I just don't want to listen to you complain when I break one of those swords.

[ When - not if. She rinses the rag before wringing it out and setting it to dry. ]

That's assuming you'd even get the chance.

[ She moves over to sit on the couch. ]

Yeah yeah. [ How many times have they challenged each other already? ]

So tell me about the others who are here. You talked about your sword neighbor and that one guy but who else is here?

[Grabbing his beer since he still has some of it left and no point in letting it be all on its lonesome, he'll walk over to sit on the other end so she has some of her own space still.]

The others? ...Some have left, but like I said a few more have shown up. I haven't met with everyone, but...

[And because this would take a while, he'll try and recount everyone he remembers. Kotori first since he mentioned her. Let's see who else is here that he's actually familiar with... Roxas, Bridge, Evora, Naomi, Elma, Rudy—the last batch being the newer ones so he's only met them once or twice. He'll talk a little about them, but just the basics.]

[ The space is appreciated. She half-relaxes into the couch. ]

You had a barbeque and didn't meet everyone? There can't be that many of us here.

[ Velvet listens as he describes the people he's met. Though none of them sound like the people she's come across. ]

I think there are about twenty of us? [Somewhere along those lines.] And hey, I had to do a lot of cooking and sparring.

[Sparring. Of course.]

Besides, what do you take me for, a social butterfly?

Huh. I thought the Storyteller would have dragged more people in than that by now.

[ A roll of her eyes, though it's done playfully. ]

Only you would put sparring into a food-related event. [ And maybe that one person he mentioned lived outside. ]

You've been here the longest out of the three of us.

You would think so, but guess we've been doing pretty well with just the numbers we had. I mean, we managed to do a lot as six people back home.

[Like overthrow an entire system and take down an Empyrean. Don't need an army, just a select few capable individuals.]

Hey, it was good exercise for the new people. [And. Yeah. He just wanted to fight with a few.]

But...huh. I guess you're right. There might be only 4? Others from that first group that are still around.
