Entry 004
Characters: Kazuma Asougi [Jekyll/Hyde]
Campaign: Break
Format: [ brackets ]
Open
Summary: Catch-All for the Break
A - The Doctor is out [Network]
I will not be meeting with clients in person until further notice. If you must make an inquiry for some medicine, use the journal to contact me. I will let you know when it's ready to be picked up.
-Disciple
B- A nightly stroll in the forest
[Anyone who happens to be wandering around or living in the forest, might hear a disturbance during the nighttime. It doesn't occur every night, but when it does, it sounded like someone was cutting down the trees. There's also a low rumbling like thunder that occasionally accompanied the sound afterwards, like a rhythmic thumping. Looking into the source, they will find themselves at the edge of the Index. The ground appeared unstable, with trees uprooted and large boulders that have been split into smaller pieces scattering about the area.
This warzone was only found along the edge of the Index, and every few nights, a new area would turn into a disaster area. If someone manages to catch the person in the act, it turns out to be the Disciple, or was it the Disciple? The low rumbling noise was from him ramming trees into the barrier or throwing boulders at it. Whatever he could pick up and throw, which was almost anything, he was directing them at the barrier. A few times he was crazy enough to punch the barrier.] I need...to go... [If you manage to get in close enough, you can hear him mumbling about going somewhere. It doesn't seem like he's quite all there himself. Are those pajamas he's wearing?]
C-Wildcard
[This post is for the entirety of the break, so feel free to poke me on Discord or
silentdrifterz if there's something else you want to play out instead or make your own starter!]

[He doesn't emerge from the water, but it should be safe now... he reaches for his journal (somehow the only accessory on his body that doesn't transform with his magic and remains at his hip) and pulls out the journal, which is a task and a half with his injured arm.]
[Huddled at the bottom of the river, he writes with his good hand in a shaky script.]
Shizuo I need help
no subject
He almost misses the flash from his journal, so it takes him a bit to actually open it and see the message waiting. But when he sees it, and how it's written? The electrical bulbs of the room flicker as he scrambles to find the quill and hastily write back.]
Where are you?
no subject
Fork in river
Be careful. Heartless
[Even writing that much has him gritting his teeth, fighting back gasps of pain. He hopes it's enough to go off of, and enough of a warning. Even if he knows nothing of the Heartless, he hopes his warning will make Shizuo be on his guard.]
no subject
He has no idea what he means, but it doesn't matter. As he's waiting for Roxas's reply, he's already gathering his things, not really caring that he's not going out fully dressed. He has a shirt, pants, shoes, and now his bag stocked with some potions, good enough.]
I'll be right there.
[That's all he manages to quickly scribble out before shoving the journal in the back and bolting out of the house, the door almost breaking off it banged against the wall so hard. ...He can fix it later.
Right now, Shizuo only had one thing on his mind and that was getting to Roxas. At first he tried to hail one of the late night "cabs," but they were already occupied with late night drunks. Figures. So he just grinds his teeth and sprints off on his own (which is honestly probably faster, anyway).
It will still take Shizuo some time to get there—after all, he lived within the city proper—but eventually he reaches the river and follows it. By the time he gets to the fork, he's actually a bit breathless and has to stop to hunch over, hands gripping his knees as he catches his breath. Only then does he hoarsely call out:]
Roxas!? Hey, are you out here??
[Maybe he should try the journal, too? So there will be a scribbled message of:]
I'm here
no subject
[Too many questions, and honestly, he's more focused on keeping quiet and biting through this agony to consider them.]
[The fork in the river is... pretty damaged, broken trees and boulders littering the area where the Disciple had attacked. When he notices the message, Roxas tucks his journal away and slowly, still cradling his arm, swims up to the surface. It's painful, especially with his injury on his tail, and once he breaches the surface he gasps out in pain.]
S-Shizuo!
[He does his best to swim to the shore, but the pain on his face is clear. Shizuo will see it pretty quick; numerous cuts and scrapes, a broken arm, and the way his shoulder is set it looks dislocated.]
no subject
But he doesn't have much time to wonder about that. The second he hears that splash of water and gasp, he turns and actually freezes for a moment. Even from this distance he could see Roxas badly injured, and it's only when the boy tries to start swimming that his legs move before his brain restarts.]
Hang on, I'll get you!
[Shit. Shit shit shit, this is bad. With a loud splash he jumps into the water and wades over to Roxas, swimming if he has to before he pulls Roxas to him. He has so many questions he wants to ask him. What the hell happened; what did this to him; where is it so he can beat the shit out of it.
But he manages to keep his rocketing anger in check, the worry and concern overpowering those volatile emotions to keep him focused on what's more important.]
Can you hold on? I'll bring you back to the shore.
no subject
G-Gotta get outta here.
[He pants through the pain, and though he tries to keep his voice steady, there's clear worry in his voice.]
I tried to fight it, but the Heartless, he... a-and the Disciple... I just..!
[He felt so powerless. He grits his teeth, out of pain and frustration and fear.]
I need my Keyblade, I can't fight it without it..!
no subject
Disciple? He was here?
[He quickly scans the area for any sign of the man, but he doesn't see him.]
And what do you mean by Heartless?
[
alas Shizuo was not a gamer and didn't pay attention to Kingdom Hearts—]no subject
He's the one... who chased me.
[Disciple doesn't seem to be around, though... maybe he ran off somewhere. He hopes they don't run into him again, he can't fight like this.]
They're... monsters. Made from the darkness in people's hearts. They're attracted to sources of darkness, and collect the hearts of others. I have a weapon to fight them, but I left it behind when I came here.
[And the way he grips at Shizuo's shirt, it's not only out of fear and pain, but also anger.]
no subject
All the while he had remained silent, listening to Roxas's description of the Heartless. He has a very sinking feeling that he knows what—or rather who—it was that attacked him. And if he's right... Anger is broiling beneath the quiet man's facade, hidden only by the calm he manages to keep for the sake of the injured boy in front of him.]
Did it look like Disciple?
no subject
Yeah... but with yellow eyes. Yellow eyes mean darkness.
[He knows that for a fact.]
If it's kept it's human form, that means it's strong. Normally you need a Keyblade to fight the Heartless, but maybe our Essence powers can help?
[Disciple had seemed to be affected by his voice, at least. Maybe his other abilities could help, once he's not in so much pain.]
no subject
[His words are said after a heavy exhale while he holds out a potion bottle for Roxas to drink.]
no subject
[Roxas blinks, surprised. He slowly takes the potion bottle, but doesn't drink.]
What do you mean..?
no subject
no subject
[Roxas can only really gape at Shizuo. On one hand, he's glad that it's not a Heartless, meaning he can relax on that front. On the other, that was a rough Essence.]
no subject
[And just going to frown a bit.]
I'll deal with him later. Drink those potions for now and I'll take you back to the city to get properly healed.
no subject
[Holy shit. Roxas takes a minute to process what Shizuo had told him, a shiver going down his spine. He slowly takes a swig from the potions with his good hand, and lets out a sigh as the magic within them slowly knits together his more minor wounds. His arm is still broken and shoulder still dislocated, but he feels as though the white-hot pain from before is at least a little numbed.]
[After a pause, he turns back to Shizuo.]
Are you sure you can handle him on your own? I wasn't able to do much to him...
no subject
Yeah, I'll be fine. I'm probably one of the few around here who can deal with him.
[He frowns, though, thinking.]
But if he's still out there, then I might have to drop you off with someone instead of trying to find a healer. Don't want someone else to get caught up in his stupid shit.
[It's a tough choice, really. He wants to make sure Roxas gets help, but if Hyde is really out there—or even Disciple passed out—then he needs to help him, too. Especially if it is Hyde.]
no subject
Just... be careful. And... try not to fight him near the barrier. That's how he broke my arm.
no subject
He was near the barrier?
[...Hm. If Disciple isn't back at the house by the time Shizuo drops him off, that'll be the place he'll need to check.]
Nevermind, I'll figure it out later. We should get you help first. Know anyone I can go to?
no subject
[He didn't get it either at the time, but maybe Shizuo can figure it out faster than he can.]
[Shizuo's question makes him pause, and he wonders about who he could go to. After a brief moment to think, he settles on the first name that comes to mind.]
Maybe... Kotori? You and her helped me out last time.
no subject
Got it. Guessing your arm is still banged up, too.
