01 ~ A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes

Summary: Korwa and Eustace arrive in the Index together. Fighting and shenanigans happen. Also puppies and matchmaking.

1 - You feeling lucky, punk? That's right, I'm back...

[What happens first is an earth-shaking tremor that rocks the very ground. Buildings sway, the glass in windows shaking violently but narrowly avoiding the point of cracking...

The loud explosion that follows though? That smashes some windows. Smoke begins rising from a building in the distance, acting as a guide for anyone brave enough to investigate the cause of all this noise and destruction.

To those with the guts to discover the source, or perhaps those just unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, you'll be greeted by… What the heck is that?!

Made of solid ice, this incredibly muscled adonis-like creature seems hell bent on causing as much destruction as possible. With a single punch part of another building crumbles, debris flying everywhere as people scream and run for cover. Is anyone going to tackle this mistake of ice sculpting gone wrong?!

Thankfully it seems as though two people are already on the case. Eustace and Korwa are both trying to keep up with the sculpture, with Eustace ready to jump into battle at a moment's notice while Korwa hangs a little further back to offer support.]

I'll keep it engaged, just stay out of the way. [That sounded more brusque than what he actually meant, which is for her to stay back so as not to get caught in the actual fight, but suddenly giant Vyrn he has to try and stop. No time to be polite.]

Let me back you up. We're going to avoid a bad ending! [At least she sounds a little more lighthearted, but then again she's keeping back while Eustace tackles muscle-Vyrn.

Will the two of them together be enough to tackle this strange, highly toned monstrosity? Maybe?! Hopefully!! But this cool customer isn't just out to wreak havoc. Oh no. It's out to put you on ice.

2 - Too cool for School

[Following the aftermath of that incredible battle there is plenty of damage to the surrounding area. When the creature fell, ice and snow suddenly blanketed everything nearby so watch you do don't slip while you're walking!

Not only that but there are plenty of people scurrying around, checking on their loved ones, their businesses and homes— Fortunately the scope of damage is isolated to half a block and fairly easy to repair, but there's plenty of commotion, with two people in the middle of it.

The woman with long, silver hair is doing her best to calm down anyone who is getting too worked up, trying to keep the peace the best she can in all of the chaos. Meanwhile the man with the tail is checking on those who seem dazed, ensuring no one was injured too badly in the chaos.

Were you hurt during the sudden arrival of Doppelvyrn? Want someone to yell at because what the hell was all of this that just happened? Look no further than these two. Flagging down one of them will mean you get the second one coming over shortly afterwards though.]


3 - Something Completely Different

[After a string of disasters/victories/happy ends, the pair can be found currently arguing out in the street. Well, "arguing." Most of the conversation seems to be coming from the silver haired woman who is following after a darker skinned man who appears to want nothing to do with her. What's perhaps most interesting about the two of them is they're both sporting furred ears on the top of their heads... Though the man also has a tail swishing behind him in agitation, hair bristled up so that's it's standing on end.]

Eustace please, I only need a few seconds to take care of you!

No.

Look, there's a cart. If you hide behind there now we'll be done, bam, finished before you know it.

No.

Fine, there's a clothing store! No one is going to question it if you undress inside—

[This time he doesn't even respond, instead his expression growing darker as he lengthens his stride and walks ahead, leaving the woman to trail along after him.]

Stop being difficult about your pants, you're going to lose them eventually!

[That warning (?) does nothing to slow Eustace down as he keeps up with his brisk escape. Do you dare approach the duo during this strange back and forth? If no one interrupts, Eustace will eventually decide he's had enough and transform into his wolf form to finally get away from Korwa.]

I see. [Well he won't press any further, instead looking over the assembled dogs. ...Hmmm.]

Regardless, perhaps we should start small. How do you feel about the brown one over there?

[Not a little puppy, but it is certainly a young dog who looks friendly, but not as energetic as the one who jumped Bridge earlier.]

[He glances over at the dog in question.]

He seems pretty chill.

[flamekthunder]

[It's only thanks to certain "youthful" members of the Grandcypher that Eustace has been exposed to more slang, otherwise he'd legitimately question what Bridge meant by "chill." The dog doesn't look cold to him—]

Just stay relaxed. I'll bring him to you.

[And Eustace will make his way over to the dog in question, its tail wagging a bit before Eustace leads him over. The dog clearly wants to greet Bridge, but it's being a good boy and not rushing in, instead just standing by Eustace's leg with tail wagging furiously.]

[Bridge takes a slow breath as the dog comes over, then offers his hand to him.]

Hey there.

[flamekthunder]

[The dog's ears immediately perk up and after glancing at Eustace as if seeking permission, it will trot over to sniff the offered hand before giving it a little boop with its nose followed by a lick, tail wagging.]

[He chuckles, reaching up to scratch behind the dog's ear.] ...This is so much better than getting chased around by them.

[flamekthunder]

[The dog is very happy with the ear scritches! And even Eustace smiles a little bit before his expression sombering a bit. So the boy was chased... Hm.]

It's unfortunate, both for you and the dogs as they were likely badly trained.

[He shrugs a bit.] I wouldn't say that exactly...though I don't know them personally so I can't exactly speak for how they were trained. But they were most likely just being playful. It doesn't help that I probably looked a bit...less human at the time.

Less human?

[That gets a slight arch of the brow.]

Yeah. Like I said, in my world people can take on different forms. Back home, this [A gesture to himself.] is what I normally look like. But I also have a form that's like a bird. ["Like" a bird meaning it's actually a bird.]

[He is going to assume the actual bird, yes. But that is...actually a bit interesting to learn about. He can't really think of anything like that in his world, other than then Primal Beasts.]

Are you still able to transform in this world?

[He shakes his head.]

No. When I got here, my ability to transform into any of my other forms was gone along with my other powers.

...I didn't realize that could happen.

[He knew he would lose his weapons, but everything else about him stayed the same. Granted, other than being a different race, he's pretty normal. Interesting.]

And nothing from your essence that is similar?

Well actually, my Essence is pretty similar to an ability I actually had back home. It works a bit differently, and doesn't seem to be used in the same way. But the effect it has is almost the same, and since I was kind of familiar with it already, I got the hang of using it pretty quickly.

[Going to be scratching the ears of another small dog that has decided to join.]

And what ability is that?

[Not that he's actually trying to pry or anything, but might as well learn about his fellow Aspects.]

Well...I can use magic to charm whoever hears it. I haven't really tested it on people yet...but when I play, birds and other animals fall into a sort of trance. ...either that, or they just really like music.

[flamekthunder]

[A light "hum" that could be taken almost for a laugh.]

Possibly both. But I see—that could prove useful in battle or in need of deception.

Deception, maybe. I'm not entirely sure about battle though. They have to be able to really hear the music in order to be affected by it, and in a pretty intense fight, people might not be listening or paying attention.

It would depend on how strongly you were able to play as well as how effective your music can be. [He's faced a lot of different Primals and foes who have used music or their voice, so he has some experience in this.] Develop your skills enough and it could become overwhelming enough to be noticed.

[Thinking about that, he nods.]

Well, I can definitely give it a try. It's not like it'd be the first time I've weaponized music before.

I have experience facing those who could do similar, but I'm a little curious to hear how it was like in your world.

Well honestly, it really depends. There are different ways to go about it in my world, depending on what someone knows or how their magic might work. But mine was pretty much the same as my Essence, where I could use it to subdue people.

[In order to drain their energy, but that might be better left unsaid.]

I see. [He just considers that for a moment, trying to see if he can recall anything that may be similar to relate it to.

But he's more or less exhausted this topic, and he actually didn't mean to focus so much on what the kid could do, as informative as it would be. He will also be a bit distracted when one of the dogs bumps his hand and his attention is momentarily diverted to give it a scratch. It's then that he studies Bridge for a moment.]

You seem to be a little more comfortable.

[With the dogs, that is. At least the ones around him.]

[He blinks, looking from him to the dog he was currently petting, then back again.] Huh...I guess so. [Then he snickers.] I guess distraction works.
