01 ~ A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes

Summary: Korwa and Eustace arrive in the Index together. Fighting and shenanigans happen. Also puppies and matchmaking.

1 - You feeling lucky, punk? That's right, I'm back...

[What happens first is an earth-shaking tremor that rocks the very ground. Buildings sway, the glass in windows shaking violently but narrowly avoiding the point of cracking...

The loud explosion that follows though? That smashes some windows. Smoke begins rising from a building in the distance, acting as a guide for anyone brave enough to investigate the cause of all this noise and destruction.

To those with the guts to discover the source, or perhaps those just unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, you'll be greeted by… What the heck is that?!

Made of solid ice, this incredibly muscled adonis-like creature seems hell bent on causing as much destruction as possible. With a single punch part of another building crumbles, debris flying everywhere as people scream and run for cover. Is anyone going to tackle this mistake of ice sculpting gone wrong?!

Thankfully it seems as though two people are already on the case. Eustace and Korwa are both trying to keep up with the sculpture, with Eustace ready to jump into battle at a moment's notice while Korwa hangs a little further back to offer support.]

I'll keep it engaged, just stay out of the way. [That sounded more brusque than what he actually meant, which is for her to stay back so as not to get caught in the actual fight, but suddenly giant Vyrn he has to try and stop. No time to be polite.]

Let me back you up. We're going to avoid a bad ending! [At least she sounds a little more lighthearted, but then again she's keeping back while Eustace tackles muscle-Vyrn.

Will the two of them together be enough to tackle this strange, highly toned monstrosity? Maybe?! Hopefully!! But this cool customer isn't just out to wreak havoc. Oh no. It's out to put you on ice.

2 - Too cool for School

[Following the aftermath of that incredible battle there is plenty of damage to the surrounding area. When the creature fell, ice and snow suddenly blanketed everything nearby so watch you do don't slip while you're walking!

Not only that but there are plenty of people scurrying around, checking on their loved ones, their businesses and homes— Fortunately the scope of damage is isolated to half a block and fairly easy to repair, but there's plenty of commotion, with two people in the middle of it.

The woman with long, silver hair is doing her best to calm down anyone who is getting too worked up, trying to keep the peace the best she can in all of the chaos. Meanwhile the man with the tail is checking on those who seem dazed, ensuring no one was injured too badly in the chaos.

Were you hurt during the sudden arrival of Doppelvyrn? Want someone to yell at because what the hell was all of this that just happened? Look no further than these two. Flagging down one of them will mean you get the second one coming over shortly afterwards though.]


3 - Something Completely Different

[After a string of disasters/victories/happy ends, the pair can be found currently arguing out in the street. Well, "arguing." Most of the conversation seems to be coming from the silver haired woman who is following after a darker skinned man who appears to want nothing to do with her. What's perhaps most interesting about the two of them is they're both sporting furred ears on the top of their heads... Though the man also has a tail swishing behind him in agitation, hair bristled up so that's it's standing on end.]

Eustace please, I only need a few seconds to take care of you!

No.

Look, there's a cart. If you hide behind there now we'll be done, bam, finished before you know it.

No.

Fine, there's a clothing store! No one is going to question it if you undress inside—

[This time he doesn't even respond, instead his expression growing darker as he lengthens his stride and walks ahead, leaving the woman to trail along after him.]

Stop being difficult about your pants, you're going to lose them eventually!

[That warning (?) does nothing to slow Eustace down as he keeps up with his brisk escape. Do you dare approach the duo during this strange back and forth? If no one interrupts, Eustace will eventually decide he's had enough and transform into his wolf form to finally get away from Korwa.]

[Eustace looks over the keys produced by Roxas and nods.]

Yes, those are the ones I remember seeing earlier. Do I need to hold them?

[...Probably with his teeth, but eh. He can deal with it.]

At first, yeah. Then they'll do their thing.

[He's vague about it, but it;s better to show rather than tell... he offers the key to Eustace.]

[Hm...

Well, only way to find out. He'll reach out and gingerly take the keys from Roxas's hands, and almost immediately he feels a very strong PULL to behind him. He actually has to jerk his head back to keep the keys from flying out of his mouth, it feels like.]

Hrmph...!

[Really he can't say anything because well. Keys. But he just grits his teeth, growling a bit before he just glances at Roxas and then to his bag on the ground. Again, can't really say anything, but it should be enough of an indication that he'll need the boy to carry his bag while he's busy with this.]

[twilightskey]

[Ah, he can see the keys are ready to go. Roxas catches that look and catches the message.]

Oh, right.

[He picks up the bag and hefts it up on a shoulder.]

Lead the way. Oh, but you might want to let go and let them lead the way.

...?

[There's just a quizzical look as Eustace hears Roxas's advice. Let them...go? Given how hard they're pulling at him, he's afraid they might just fly off on their own.

But after some initial hesitation, he releases them (and actually kind of glad because this was feeling really weird yet natural at the same time). The keys do indeed pop right out and dart forward. but they seem to hover just a few feet away, as if waiting for him.]

...I see. In that case, I can take my things and be able to follow from here.

[He appreciates Roxas's help, but he doesn't need to drag the boy around if he doesn't have to. But if Roxas actually wanted to come along... ... ...H emight just allow it.]

Well, I'm already carrying it. If you want some help finding your house, I don't mind.

[He's not an Index expert yet, but he knows the forest fairly well.]

...If you don't mind, then I see no reason to refuse.

[Other than being his lone wolf self, but he's at least opened up more so he's more willing to allow it.]

Let's go.

[And already trotting after the keys as they fly forward. They're going at a fairly fast clip, so Eustace bounds after them.]

Right.

[He nods, and runs after Eustace as they chase the keys. They go pretty fast, and though Roxas has pretty good stamina, it doesn't take him long to start falling behind.]

[So many twists and turns... And did they seriously go in a circle just now?? Eustace is getting a bit annoyed by this, but at some point he notices Roxas lagging behind and stops, the keys still flying forward before they stop abruptly, as if yanked by an invisible leash. Turning back, he sees Roxas had done well to keep up, but he clearly he could only do so much. As for Eustace, he doesn't seem winded at all, and he remembers the snippet that had been provided to him about his essence.

Once Roxas reaches him, he studies the boy for a moment before making a decision.]

Ride on my back, it will be easier.

[twilightskey]

[He does his best! But his best does not allow him to keep up with a four-legged wolf. He's just about to debate calling out to Eustace when the wolf slows down, and then makes the offer.]

Huh?

[He blinks, registering it for a moment, before nodding.]

Yeah. Thanks.

[He'll be quick to hop on the wolf's back when he's offered the chance to do so.]

...I've never carried anyone like this before, so just hang on.

[He's hefted injured onto his back before, but definitely not like this. It's also strange from this perspective, and he thought it would be weightier. Yet he doesn't feel much of a difference once Roxas is up, and for Roxas it will feel as if he's on a small horse. A warm, furry horse. There will be plenty of scruff around Eustace's neck as well, so he won't have to worry about hurting him with his grip.]

Ready?

[twilightskey]

Okay.

[To be fair, he's never ridden anything like this before. It's a strange new feeling, and he tries not to hold onto the fur too tightly.]

[He nods once he's settled in.]

Ready. Let's go.

[flamekthunder]

[There's just a nod before Eustace leaps forward, the key immediately flying forward. Eustace will try to keep it at a relatively leisure run, mostly so that the key doesn't go too crazy. Given that they have to go through a very convoluted route, it's probably for the best.

But eventually they hit the edge of the city and enter the forest, which is not all surprising. If his home is to fit that of his essence, then it only made sense that he would be out there rather than within the city. From here the key seems to be taking a more straightforward path, so Roxas can relax a bit.]

Woah!

[It's a shock once they take off, but he holds on tight enough to keep hold. As per usual, the key goes every which way, going up and down and all around.]

The keys like to do this!

[He half-yells it as they run, just to let Eustace know. But it looks like things are settling down once they get further out of the town and into the forest.]

[Now that it's a more leisurely run, Roxas can actually enjoy riding the big wolf around. He grins, letting out a small laugh as he takes in the sight and revels in the excitement of the moment.]

[The only sign of Eustace hearing his shout was the quick flick of his ears back to him. At least the keys didn't make them climb over buildings...although even if it did, Eustace would have just opted to go around because fuck that, there's only so much nonsense he was going to tolerate for this wild goose chase.

But now that they're in the forest, Eustace also relaxes, his strides lengthening so that it'll be a bit of a smoother ride for the boy on his back. Which...is still weird, but he's gotten used to it by now. Again his ears flick back when he hears Roxas laugh, and he glances behind.]

Enjoying yourself?

[Even someone like Eustace can make a little amused quip.]

Yeah. I've never done anything like this before!

[Unless of course it was trying to climb up a giant Heartless, but that didn't count. There was that one time in Neverland, though, when he could fly... that was probably the closest he's gotten to enjoying something like this.]

[Still, he doesn't bother to hide his excited grin.]

...Hm. Don't get used to it.

[He says, but there's a bit of amusement in his voice, a wolfish grin just barely there.]

[Roxas just grins. He doesn't know if he'll get a chance like this again, but hey, he's enjoying it while he can.]

[Unless Roxas wants to have some idle chatter, Eustace will just remain his usual silent self, most of his focus on following the key. He has to cut through the forest and run up along the river, but thankfully they won't have to cross. It does remind him that Roxas said he turned into a mermaid, so after glancing at the crystal blue waters, he speaks.]

Do you have to live near water?

[Probably sounds like a random and abrupt question given there was zero lead up to it.]

[twilightskey]

[Roxas doesn't mind the silence, more than content to take in the scenery as they run. He's a little curious about Eustace, and about where he comes from and what his Essence is, but he keeps it to himself for now; maybe he can ask when they come to a stop.]

[Eustace, on the other hand, eventually speaks up once they're near the river. He blinks, but then nods.]

Yeah, I do. My house is actually just down river from here, and I can swim into it from the lake. I don't need to be in the water all the time, but I have to go swimming once in a while.

[flamekthunder]

Hm... I see.

[He'll just file that way and not say much more, instead continuing to run at their leisurely pace. Eventually the key makes him turn away from the river and follow a deer trail deeper into the woods. When it finally stops, the two will find themselves standing in front of a rather impressive looking house carved into the side of a small ridge.

Eustace honestly...has no words because whatever he was expecting, it wasn't that. Some may be impressed, but he's just finding it a bit much.]

[twilightskey]

[Roxas doesn't mind enjoying the run, and eventually they stop in front of a very impressive looking house. He looks up in surprise.]

Wow, this is your house? It looks like it's made out of the rocks!

[flamekthunder]

So it seems...

[Eustace still doesn't look too enthused. He does appreciate the architecture and work of it, of course. It's a grand place, to be sure.

But.

For him??

He clearly has some reservations, but might as well see what it has to offer.]

Let's take a look.

[And whenever Roxas dismounts, he'll pad forward to where the key is waiting at the door, ready to be turned. Once opened, they can start wandering through the many rooms inside.

...He just wants to find a room so he can transform and change.]

[Roxas dismounts, and follows Eustace inside. He marvels at the stone interior as he goes from room to room, and how homey it feels even if it's all carved out of the rocky cliffside. He runs a hand over one of the walls in the living room.]

This is amazing... I never thought a house could be made entirely out of stone like this.

People can make homes out of any environment.

[Just an idle comment as he pads through the halls, claws ticking against the rock.

Hm... Well he doesn't need a bedroom to actually change, so he's just going to pick a room and transform out. Once he does, he feels surprisingly...tired a bit. But he'll start changing into the clothes he had brought with him.

Pants first. Yep.]
