» A: SCENE 2 - GHOST STORIES BY THE FIRE «
[Rokurou had wondered if he would be cast for a role. On the one hand, it looked kind of fun, but on the other, it was probably also annoying depending on what he had to do. Seems like he lucked out with getting a fairly easy task.
After some time has past, he's going to grin and slowly snuff out some of the lamps and candles, the room darkening until it was mostly the fireplace lighting the room.]
All right, guys, I know this is supposed to be a holiday party, but I'm there's one story that has to be shared every year. —Or so that's what I was told. [By the journal. Hell if he knows what the actual traditions are for this "Christmas" deal.
With a bottle of alcohol in one hand, he pulls up a chair by the fire and turns it around so that he his arms rest over the back.]
This town has a legend about a Headless Horseman. But who is this guy? A monster? Ghost? Daemon? [He grins before taking a sip of his drink, wetting his lips a bit before he really goes into it.] I've actually seen it, the Headless Horseman from this story. It was just before we were knocked out and sent here.
I've been through all over those woods earlier, and I actually saw a trail of hoof prints. I'm sure you guys have heard the sounds, too—a horse neighing, like someone galloping through it. But that's all I found—the prints. No bent branches, no overturned earth, no droppings. I kept following them until I a fog suddenly rolled in around me, and then—!
[Pause for dramatic effect.]
I smelled it before I saw it—the scent of death. At first I thought it was just a horse, either broken free from one of the stables or for whoever was playing the Horseman. But as I drew closer, I kept hearing this weird...drip drip sound, and the ground squelched beneath my boot. I thought maybe I had stepped on some mud, but when I looked down?
[He lowers his voice.]
It was blood. Black blood. The ground was drenched in it and I could see it flowing past me. That's when I felt a cold breath against my neck. I didn't have to look to know—the horse had stepped closer.
Now, I'm a daemon, and I've seen a lot of different monsters back from my world, including undead ones. But that horse was something I never could have imagined. Its head was just all bone, small yellow lights its eyes. Its neck was shredded muscle, the main stringy, strands of hair. Pieces of it actually dropped to the ground when it moved. The rest of its body was—well, out of consideration for the faint of heart, I'll just say it was pretty messed up, like it had been torn up and shredded apart by a large beast. Bone, skin, tissue, muscle—I don't know how it was able to stay together, but it did.
And on its back was the rider—but he was in just as bad shape. The lack of a head was obvious, but I could see he was wearing a uniform of some kind, so he had to be a soldier who died in battle. Like his horse, his body was shredded and torn up, but some of his clothes at least covered what was missing. He had a sword embedded in his back, and I could see the tip of it through his exposed ribcage. [He leans forward, a glint in his eye.] Right through his still beating, black, blood dripping heart.
[He stands now, slowly pacing the small area in front of the fireplace, its flames crackling loudly behind him.]
So we stared at each other—well, figuratively since the guy didn't have a head and the horse barely had its own. When it started to move, I reached back for my swords. It wouldn't be the first headless horseman I took down, and I was curious to see if it was all show or could actually put up a fight. But as I drew my weapons, I heard something heavy fall and a weird shuffling sound behind me.
I couldn't exactly turn around and leave myself exposed, but I couldn't ignore it, either. So tried to do a half turn, like this— [He demonstrates, pivoting on one heel just enough for the maneuver.] I could still see the horseman with one eye, but I couldn't see anything else at first. But then the shuffling sound grew louder...and louder...and louder...
Until BAM!
[HEADS UP! He suddenly reaches back in his coat pocket and throws out a small pumpkin with a carved out face towards someone in the audience.]
The bloody head of the horseman came flying at me, its toothless mouth opening wide as if to swallow me whole. It was the last thing I saw before waking up here.
[He leans against the chair and casually takes another drink of his beer.]
And that's the end of my story.
[DID HE REALLY SEE THIS? OR DID HE JUST MAKE IT UP?]
If anyone else wants to share one, go for it, but I don't think you'll be able to top that.

» B: PROTECT THE MANOR «
[ i. dealing with the erasers ]
[After doing his part and enjoying the party, Rokurou heads outside to have some real fun: fighting things.
So he'll be found actually hunting down Erasers, even venturing a little farther away to find his prey.]
Heh, was wondering when these guys would show up. I was starting to feel a bit bored.
[Said with his usual grin as a few Erasers appear down the read leading to the manor. With a flick of his wrists, he twirls his shortswords in his hands before suddenly charging in. And this time, he'll actually fire a few shots to try and get some practice with those gunblades.
So if you happen to look outside and see some guy having fun fighting Erasers—that would be him. And if he has to fight closer to the house—don't mind the ink splatter on the windows. He'll... Nah he won't clean it.]
---
[ ii. who the hell is santa ]
[The Erasers are all well and good, but they're too easy. After finishing off another group, he hears a strange rustling sound on the roof of the manor. When he looks up... He just kind of stares.]
...Is that some fat guy trying to get in from the chimney...?
[What. Well, he doesn't remember anyone looking like that, so he's going to look around for a way up. A ladder, trellis...or should he try going up from the house and maybe from the attic window?
Or he could try shooting him. YEAH THAT'S A GREAT IDEA, sheathing his shortswords to pull out one of his greatsword rifles, kneeling down to see if he can get a shot. That backside is a very generous target at least...]

» C: PARTY FUN + WILDCARD «
[Basically the wildcard. Rokurou will be having fun, enjoying the food, drinks, maybe joining in for the occasional group dance because why the heck not. But he can also be found sitting on the staircase to watch everyone as he quietly enjoys some drink and food. Even the wild daemon enjoys some quiet time.
But if you have any ideas or want to plot, just hit me up on Discord or

Ophilia settles back in her seat. ]
Would you prefer it if I were more scared?

Imagine walking alone to one’s cottage late after this party ends. It is cold, dark, and the wind hisses along the bare tree branches.... With your story being real, it would make the listener far more wary of any shifting shadows in the moonlight, any noise not accounted for by their own boots upon the road.
When someone is alone and vulnerable, when they let their own imaginations expand upon your tale— that is when you can count on their fear truly taking them. [ She claps her hands together, smiling brightly. ] And I think you accomplished that! Because I already know I will be scared, whether or not your tale is true.

[He grins before chuckling a bit.]
I will say this. It's true that I heard the sounds of a horse running through those woods out there. But whether it's a wild or escaped horse, or the steed of the Headless Horseman... I'll leave that for you to determine.
And who knows...if you walk outside and stare out into the trees, maybe you'll hear those hooves and the eerie neigh out there.

[ She brings one hand to her cheek while the other flaps at him, as if trying to brush the entire story away. She'd rather not be frightened while walking away from the party alone, tyvm. ]

Haha, sorry. But don't worry. Whether it's real or not, there are plenty of us to take care of it—myself included.

Yep, I'm a swordsman. Although my essence is the Huntsman, so it's been a little weird trying to adjust.
I take it you're not?
[At least, she doesn't seem like a physical fighter. Could see her as a mage, but she also seems more of a pacifist.]

I afraid that my skill with the blade leave much to be desired, even if I've dabbled in some swordplay. [ Because dual-class is the way to go in 8path. Still, anyone who puts Ophilia as a Warrior-Cleric is kinda ballsy?? ] As it currently stands, I own no weapon in this realm. [ It was broken a while back. She continues, joking: ] I've yet to develop fox-claws for protection, too! Although I'd rather do without them.
no subject
Hmm, I see. Although having someone who can help support and heal is just as important.
Claws could be cool, but do you want to learn how to use a weapon more offensively? Or maybe try some spells if physical combat isn't your thing?
no subject
Have you discovered your own Essence's abilities?
no subject
Oh, and wolves. Don't know what it is, but I get tense whenever there are wolves around.
[It's very weird since he personally doesn't care about them either way, so he gets a very strange mash of thoughts and feelings about it.]
But yeah, seems more like passive abilities.
