Characters: Kazuma Asougi [Jekyll&Hyde], Eizen [Davy Jones], 76 [Raw Head] and Anyone else!
Campaign: Break
Format: [ brackets ] or "prose"
Open
Summary: Another campaign ends and the Hydeout is open for business and have added some more Happy Hours!
He just ask everyone not to burn down or wreck his tavern too much. He likes to keep his business (Or what's left of his time here once the news breaks out). There's an arena underground if you really need to take out your anger, all right?
If one is just looking to have a less rowdier time, come by the tavern during the daytime. The place will serve you some lunch and the atmosphere becomes more of your typical diner, being managed by monsters. If there's something not on the menu that you want, as long as the ingredients are available, they'll probably be able to cook it up. Just don't expect to get the right booze everytime though.
OOC Note: This is pretty much a mingle log that'll last up until the end of the game. Hyde will keep the door open, even if he gets moody over it.

OTA
[A - Arena]
[The Arena been getting a lot of activity as of late. It gets so rowdy that even topside rumbles a bit from all the fighting. In the middle of it all, Hyde was observing the fights, only partaking if he finds a suitable opponent. Unfortunately, they never last as long as he likes.]
Is this really the best this place has to offer? Really? [He sighs heavily, tossing yet another combatant in the direction of the med bay area.] Better make sure you can back up your threats! Now who's next?!
[B1 - Evening Bar]
[Hyde won't be spending his whole time down in the arena. He'll make company with the patrons of the tavern, chatting up a storm, inviting himself when not asked.] Don't mind if I take this seat.
[He can be joining you at the bar, the tables, maybe having a drinking contest and he probably smells of booze and smoke.]
[B2 - Lunch break]
[Normally Hyde lives for the bustling noise of a busy tavern, but as of late, he's been appreciating the silence and slow lunch run.
He be lounging around the bar, a cigarette in hand and seemingly lost in thought. So this was it. Their task was supposedly complete......what now?
What was going to happen to him?]
[Wildcard] Make your own starter! I'm treating this as a catch-all for anything else, so it does not need to be tied to the tavern.
B1
look, maybe showing up in the evening was a bad idea, but she also wants to chill in a place where she knows at least a couple of people she's vaguely comfortable with.
...
But Hyde coming over? She doesn't know him. Does she know it's Kazuma? NOPE. So New Person, just casually comin' over to say hi, gets her to freeze and stare for a good few moments, before she's trying to avoid just staring because that's rude, but also... the clientele around here. No use in getting someone mad at her, right?]
U-uh... s-s-sure...
no subject
You're a new young face. Oh, wait- [He looks her over, staring without a care how rude he appears.] Aren't you...Futaba?
no subject
[DID SHE KNOW HIM?? She freezes up when he slides on into the booth, leaning back from the stare because whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat the heck?!]
D-do I k-know you...?!
no subject
Ring a bell now? [The serious expression doesn't last long before he's giving her a toothy grin with a chuckle.] The name's Hyde, kid. And I'm surprised to see you joining us this evening. [He's pretty sure Kazuma told this kid not to come in the evenings.]
sorry for the delay!
WHAT.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT.]
Wait.... Kazuma? [But he said 'Hyde' so...
...
...oh. Wait. Storybook place, essences...]
Sooo... he's Dr. Kazuma and you're Mr. Hyde, huh...? A-and I was hungry, so... I dropped by. It's... really busy.
No worries!
So you chose to enter the lion's den just to grab something to eat? Hehe, you'll probably get eaten before the night's over. [He strokes his chin.] What is it you like again? Curry?
no subject
W-well... I-I didn't think it'd be that bad, and last time the food was good...
[...she'd ask if he'd truly let her get eaten since last time he was protective enough of her, but this Hyde seems a little more... violent.]
Yeah... curry. I could eat it for every meal, if I was allowed to. Stupid eating healthy and eating vegetables.
no subject
Your parents aren't here to tell you what to eat are they? In fact, besides curry, is there anything you want to try that you haven't?
no subject
But she has to think about that one.]
Probably not... I-I'm kinda picky when it comes to food. [...] M-maybe some regional food... like from Kyoto or Osaka. I really only eat curry or i-instant noodles anyway.
no subject
Puh, instant noodles isn't really food. How about I get the old man to make you some curry ramen?
OTA
[Even back in the kitchen, 76 wasn't hard to spot. Bright blue eyes shifting between any food being cooked up to the patrons of the pub tavern itself. Only certain hours of the day had him busy of course, didn't bother him much.
Did slide an order on to the bar the times it was slow.]
Eat up.
[Also made it easier to snag his attention for an order before he headed back.]
Break(s)
[There was a corner he tended to grab for himself, kicked back in a chair and what looked like a mason jar in hand, just hanging in claws making it easier for him to take the occasional sip from. Wasn't anything served from the bar of course.
Fluffy striped tail kept tucked well out of the way of walking traffic, those ears of his on the swivel—]
Need something?
Wildcard!
[Bring your own starter.]
PLEASE FEED HER DAD76
like a creeper, her stomach reminded her that it was, indeed, Food Time(TM) and that she should probably eat. It was probably safest up near the bar, and while normally she shouldn't be allowed up at a bar, with how busy it was? Probably wouldn't be that much of a problem. So when 76 comes out with some food for someone else next to her... well...
must... touch.. fluffy... ears....!!! That's... not the best way to get someone's attention, but it'd probably work... as long as he didn't get mad about it. He didn't before and he said it was all right, but...!]
U-uh... the curry you made the last time. I-it was pretty good, so... [it'll probably take a while for curry, though...] B-but you don't have to make that this time! I-I know it t-takes a while to make!
[Futaba is interrupted by a growling stomach. Talking about food is awakening the beast.]
GOTTA EAT UP
76 was silent for a moment, an arm rested on the bar top itself-]
I can make you a snack to have while it cooks up, if that's what you want.
[Snack + curry = good deal as far as he was concerned. Even if he cut a glance around, observing the other patrons. Had to be hungry if she braved the bar counter, really.
His head tipped a little.]
Can head back with me if it makes you more comfortable, too.
[Rather than sit and deal with the other patrons while waiting. An open offer she could turn down any part of.]
no subject
[If she lingered in the kitchen in Leblanc, sometimes she got shooed out, so she has to make sure she won't be in 76's way here!
But upon a positive (he did suggest it, after all!) reply, she slides out of her seat, taking a look around at the... interesting clientele here, before heading back with 76. Once there...]
Uhh... wh-what kinda snacks d'ya have? [A glance around the kitchen makes her feel a little more at ease, though she knows it's not Sojiro back here cooking. 76 is pretty nice though!]Sorry for a-asking for curry, I know it's n-not really easy to make.
no subject
[He took enough breaks back he he had a table and chair set up, tucked out of the way but still able to have a view of the kitchen and out in to the bar area. Even gestured a hand that way of she wanted to perch.
Was already pulling a few things from a bag tucked near the table.] Jerky, dried fruits, nuts. Made some fruit leather I sweetened up with some honey.
[There was a jar that looked like trail mix set on the table as he rustled through his bag.] I take it curry is a comfort food for you. Don't mind it, we all of our go to's.
no subject
Oh uh... what's fruit leather? [Something fruity with honey it sounds like, but it's not something she's heard of.
His statement catches her off-guard more than anything, but a small smile crosses her face, and a warmth hits her eyes.]
Yeah... my mom was a scientist so she had a perfected scientific method for making it to balance all the spices and flavours to go with Sojiro's coffee. I could eat it for all my meals and necer complain.
no subject
He pulled a strip of something from the jar, and it was wrapped up in a bit of waxy paper just to keep it from sticking. Slid it within her reach.]
Fruit snack. It's like mashing up fruit in to a past and then letting it dry out, think of it like a home-made gummy. I like to add a bit of honey for a extra kick of sweet, and what the bees got said honey from. [Either a little floral, fruity, or mix of both.
76 listened, tail swaying slowly behind him. Ah, made sense.]
Good memories, making of a great comfort food. Got something like that myself, one of my Ma's recipes.
[Tatter tot hot dish, easy enough to make in even just a mug and a microwave.]
I love when I find that what i thought I replied with didn't post!
[At his mention of curry being a comfort food, she nods again.]
Moms really do m-make the best food. Sojiro makes the curry now for me, s-since Mom can't anymore. [But, since he mentioned it...] I-is yours something y-you can make here too? Like now kinda make it?
[Look you got the kid curious, she has to know. She needs to try it.]
Lord don't I know that kinda feeling fffffff
[Permission granted.
His head tipped, glancing back towards what he had out to work with, and it really wasn't hard at all to fry up potatoes. Had some grated from not that long ago that could do the trick-]
They do, yeah. [Something there with the fact her mother couldn't, but he wouldn't pry. Keep it noted sure, but let Futaba open at her own pace, if she wanted to open further at all.] Yeah, it's something I can whip up.
[Had some ground beef on hand, along with a few vegetables, and a gravy was easy to whip up, too. Frying up some shredded potatoes? Also easy. Already moving to get that meat to brown up in a pan, and get a gravy started in a pot-]
This was something that my Ma would cook up regularly, know it by heart.
Wildcard of everything
[A delicious meal always gets him excited, but today, the excitement seems to be a bit subdued. In fact, Hyde hasn't been as rambunctious as he normally was since the end of the campaign. He sets the cigarette in the ashtray, so he could start working on his meal.]
Mm, did you change up the recipe a little today?
Everything is wild
[Be it food or something else, sometimes something to eat was just needed- more so with how he'd seen Hyde go about without eating. Drinking and smoking didn't really make up for not getting anything else down.
An ear flicked, hip set against the counter where 76 stood.]
Small adjustment to seasoning. That noticeable?
no subject
no subject
Shoulders shrugged slightly.] Easier to find the stuff this time of year.
[76 and his wild herb forging.]
no subject
no subject
Shaky outlook. Still, trouble isn't over yet.
no subject
I'm sure you heroes will all get together and save the day as always.
no subject
[He leaned down, and picked up a mason jar that still had the lid on it, setting it right by the plate of food. Have something guaranteed strong.] Concerns you in a different way, doesn't it.
no subject
I don't exactly exist outside these pages.
no subject
Still exist right now, real as anyone else.
no subject
Ahhhhhhh, I don't want to give this damn body back! It's his fault he couldn't keep me under control. I should be the one to go home instead!
no subject
76 Didn't have anything against Kazuma, got to know Hyde well enough simply from working here. Didn't stick his nose in to this mess-]
But know you're tied here. Not great seeing your days numbered.
no subject
It's not fair. I did all the work while that guy was crying about himself. [He's exaggerating. Annnnd he's taking another sip out of that jar.] Ugggh, maybe I should give that Storyteller a piece of my mind. Get him to give me my own body, a place outside this hellhole.
no subject
76 let his hands rest on the bar top, claws drumming idly.]
Anything to be less tied down, huh?
no subject
[No more running a tavern, no more terrorizing people....nothing]
no subject
Hell of a thing to be faced with.
no subject
[He's picking up that jar, downing a bit more than one sip.] Why follow orders when you can't get what you want in the end? [At this point, he's just grumbling to grumble.]
no subject
Can bend yourself backwards, out of shape, and break and still never get what you want. Be this thing you're imagined to be, give them what they want if they already see you that way- and it doesn't do a damn bit of good either. [Wow he sounded tired-]
What do you want?
no subject
My own life, not be forgotten. [He glances at the plate of food that he had consume] A whole plate of meat.
no subject
He couldn't do it anymore. Still, he listened and he watched.]
I can do the meat. [Easy.] What do you want to be remembered as in your life?
no subject
...heh, I think all I'll be remembered for is raising hell. But I guess it really doesn't matter to me, as long as I'm etched into everyone's memories in some way.
no subject
There was a snort, but it wasn't amused. Just some harsh exhale.]
You can leave a Hell of an impression.
OTA (with one closed prompt)
Luca doesn't usually frequent the Hydeout, but he made a note to meet someone here for something.
The problem was, who was he looking for and what were they going to discuss?
So here he is, wandering through the tavern, taking in the sights. He's a little unsettled by the monsters frequenting the bar... Though he tries to be friendly.
"Erm... Hello?"
DINNER AND A SHOCK
Eventually, he decides to just eat here. Maybe the person might come to him when they're not busy. In the meantime, he'll just read through this 'new' document he got as a reward for helping with the last story while he's waiting for his meal... And by 'new,' we mean a few years old and almost completely forgotten about. Luca asked if he could get anything more directly related to his work with Alva. He's starting to realize he should have just asked for the manuscripts themselves, but...
"An eternally perfect machine...?" Luca reads his own handwriting to himself, his old cover letter taking his attention away from the server setting food down on his table in front of him. "The National Academy of Sciences... Passed a resolution that... Discourages the research of any machine that demonstrates perpetual motion... Ha! As if their laws apply in this place! I could probably get away with finishing that research myself... If there was more time..."
Oh, right. The Story fellow said they succeeded in helping them. So what will become of Luca? Will he just be sent back to that horrid prison, or does he have the choice to...
"Huh?" Something catches his eye, makes his heart sink. "Though I hesitate to bring him up, my father himself ruined my family financially...?!" What's this feeling? Dread? Bitterness? A thought flickers briefly in Luca's mind, something concerning an argument and running away... It's gone as soon as it appeared, and he's left to gape at the letter. "Why... Why would I bring that up? And why would I put my father's manuscripts with my own letter?!"
Luca wants more answers, but there is little to be found. Those records and conjectures that were once attached did not come with the letter, and Luca's food is getting cold.
Closed to Eizen
Okay, Luca doesn't usually drink too much, but after that revelation he needs something. Something light, he ought to keep his wits about him... But what? Better to walk up to the bar and ask...
Then Luca actually sees the bartender, and the question he had becomes very different.
"Say... Sir, weren't you in the role of... The female lead from our last story, last time we met?"
Guess Luca finally found who he was looking for after all.
WILDCARD!
[ Bring a starter, wonder what the resident inventor is doing here of all places. ]
