Makoto took the nutcracker, frowning a little at the missing face. That was going to be tough but he nodded in thanks and went back to where he had been sitting with the brushes and paint.

He ended up spending a lot of time on it. While the face was completely gone, the indents had remained so he was trying to painstakingly stay in the lines so he didn't completely screw up the face. He was biting his lip in concentration, even.
