004 // And Now The Times Are Changin' [Open]
Characters: Roxas (The Little Mermaid) and YOU
Campaign: Break
Format: I will match!
Open
Summary: Catch-all for October!
I – Ain't No Use In Complainin' When You've Got A Job To Do
[Their business in the Draft may be finished, but out in the Index, life goes on. They may have received a hefty sum of gold coin and gems to sustain them, but boredom sets in easily enough. Hence why Roxas wastes no time getting back to helping out around the Index.]
[The one thing that Roxas helps out with quite a bit is mail delivery. Since he's able to freely traverse up the river and with his skateboard in the Index proper, he's able to get deliveries out fairly quickly. It's an easy job for him, and allows him to get the lay of the land fairly easily.]
[Perhaps you see him while out and about, reading the address on a letter as he lazily drifts forward on his skateboard. Or perhaps you're expecting a delivery and he's the one delivering it. Either way, if you wave hi, he'll stop for a quick chat.]
II – Oh, When I Look Back Now, That Summer Seemed To Last Forever
[Though he keeps busy with mail delivery, Roxas still has plenty of downtime in the Index. Which means finding ways to occupy his time. And ever a creature of habit, Roxas eventually finds himself going to a particular haunt if he gets the chance to.]
[Some evenings just before sunset, those passing by the Grand Library may notice Roxas perched on the edge of the rooftop. He's easy to see if you look up, but getting up the roof might be a bit of a challenge. Sometimes he's eating an ice cream, sometimes he's just admiring the view. Recently, though, he's been ignoring the view to instead look at a particular photograph he received as a gift for helping with the latest story. It may be an odd place to look at a photograph, but to Roxas, nothing could be more fitting.]
III – Me And Some Guys From School, Had A Band And We Tried Real Hard
[Thanks to his Essence, Roxas has been slowly introducing himself to the surprisingly wide world of singing and music. At first he'd only hum to himself or sing songs that he remembers from Sora's memories, or that he heard Demyx playing back in The Castle That Never Was. Now he finds that the longer that he stays in the Index, the more he notices the local musicians and street bards, and stops to listen to them. And, occasionally, join them.]
[You may stumble across him among one of these groups during the daytime or evening, and Roxas tends to find himself in singing roles more often than not. He tries to keep his magic out of his voice where he can, but if he really gets into the song he can't help but slip some of that siren's lure into his voice, drawing quite a crowd. He lets the band dictate the songs, and he sings anything from wistful melodies to upbeat ear-catchers to softer love ballads.]
[Why not stay and listen for a bit, or join in, if you're feeling brave?]
IV – We Were Killin' Time, We Were Young And Restless, We Needed To Unwind
[One great thing about Roxas going back home and returning is that he now has a body to call his own. A Replica body, sure, but it's as real as any human body out there, so it still counts. And as such, he's been getting used to the perks and quirks of possessing a real human body, rather than the Nobody body he possessed from before.]
[Recently, he's experiencing a particular phenomenon that he's never felt before. It starts out small and inconspicuous, but as the days go on his head starts to feel heavy, his eyes itchy, his throat sore. He's often seen coughing, or using a handkerchief where he needs, and his complexion is a little paler. He tries to go about his day like this, but he notices that he's feeling a lot more fatigued than normal.]
[He doesn't know what's going on. Then again, he's never had a sick day before. So he may have to be told to stumble over to a shop to get some medicine.]
V – [Closed to Kotori]
[Though not severe enough to be life-threatening, Roxas's cold does get worse, as does his fever. When he finds it hard to even get out of bed, he reaches for his journal and slowly, messily, scrawls out to the first person he thinks of.]
Kotori? Are you there?
