[Jean knew it was nothing good, especially because of the laugh, but just didn't have enough time to react to being pulled up. Being hit to the ground several times is making him feel very out of it and feels how several places on his torso are getting damage. Especially his right shoulder feels... off.
He had to at least try and do something so on the moment he's down again he grabs some dirt and snow and throws it at Hyde's eyes to try and make him distracted.
Honestly, now he was more or less ready to try and run the first minute he can because being used as a ragdoll really made him realize how outmatched he was.]
