"Hot it is," he replied, hanging the jar on top of fireplace, blowing on the embers and encouraging the fire until it started up again. He threw a log before nodding, pointing to the large stone oven in the side.
"I've been practising," he explains. "There were wild grains around the house so I made really course flour. It's not the best bread but..."
He opens the stove and a cooled pieces of bread sit inside. The shape is...well not the best but it was bread. And a day's fresh.
"Its not melonpan but I had a piece yesterday, it's not bad. Do you want some fresh spring water?"
